10 ladies of wrestling that deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame

The lovely Miss Elizabeth

The annual WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony is one of the marquee events of Wrestlemania Week. It has become a spectacle of its own, taking place in the host city for Wrestlemania, the night before the Showcase of Immortals.

This is the one time in a year that all of the current WWE Superstars dress up in their finest gear and find their seats in the audience, which is where they rub elbows with all of the legends of yesterday while honouring the inductees of the evening.

Each year, fans are treated to a nostalgic trip down memory lane as the Hall of Fame class for that particular year is revealed, typically beginning in late January. As they are revealed, fans begin to speculate on who will be next, or who they feel should be inducted. The whole process is really a fun experience to witness as it happens.

One of the highlights of the ceremony each year is finding out who the headliner will be. It appears that this year, the class will be led by the Olympic Hero Kurt Angle. With that said, it’s also exciting to see which of the legends of women's wrestling will take their place in the Hall of Fame.

If you look back at all the great female talent that has come through the WWE, it’s obvious that there are still plenty of ladies out there that are very deserving of being inducted.

The women’s division is very strong right now, but it is very important to honour those who paved the way in the sport so that women would be taken seriously as credible performers. I have thought about this topic for quite some time now, and have narrowed my list down to 10 ladies who once graced a WWE ring with their presence.

Here is my list for 10 ladies of wrestling, who are worthy of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

#10 Stacy Keibler

She’s got legs and she sure knows how to use them!

When you think of Stacy Keibler, the first thing that comes to mind is sex appeal. Stacy may not have been a great in-ring wrestler, but she certainly had a purpose in the industry, which she worked flawlessly.

Stacy actually got her break into the business as a Nitro Girl for WCW. The Nitro Girls was a stable of ladies who would more or less serve as a sexy hype group. As a Nitro Girl, Stacy was known as Skye.

She was brought on board at a time when WCW had the seemingly impossible task of competing with the Attitude Era. Keibler’s looks and provocative nature really helped WCW remain relevant during some highly competitive times. But, like many of this era, Stacy was eventually headed to the WWE.

While in the WWE, Stacy was a part of the Invasion angle. While she would compete at times in women’s competition, Stacy spent most of her career involved in various relationship story lines, and pretty much anything else that would highlight her beauty.

#9 Jazz

Jazz was dyamite in the ring!

This may very well be the most underrated talent you will see on this list. Jazz was always one of my personal favourites in women’s wrestling. She was extremely athletic, strong and technically sound. Her ability to morph into any sort of situation would be one of the qualities that helped get her over.

Jazz cut her teeth in the hardcore world of ECW. She was one of wrestling’s most feared women’s competitors. Once she got to the WWE, she finally had the platform needed to showcase exactly what she could and would do.

She had some incredible bouts with the likes of Lita, Trish Stratus and all the other greats of her era. In fact, one of her most talked about matches was at Wrestlemania X8, where she retained her title by defeating Trish Stratus and Lita, in a triple-threat match.

Jazz continues to wrestle today. She is the current NWA World’s Women’s Champion, a title that she defends full-time, with promotions all over the world that are sanctioned by the NWA. She is also married to former WWE Superstar Rodney Mack.

#8 Molly Holly

Molly Holly the Superhero!

Molly Holly is a two-time WWE Women’s Champion, and technically speaking, she is also a former WWE Hardcore Champion as well.

After training under Dean Malenko, Molly would get her start in WCW, where she was initially a valet for Randy Savage. She was known as “Miss Madness” in the beginning. She would eventually become known as “Mona,” a babyface fan favourite, who would compete barefoot. After a brief WCW tenure, she would head for greener pastures, in the WWE.

After honing her skills in the Memphis area developmental system, Molly Holly would go on to have a great deal of success on the WWE main roster. She would be involved in a number of memorable angles, such as the “Mighty Molly” story line. After the angle with The Hurricane, Molly would then turn heel before going on to capture the women's title.

Molly Holly was a highly energetic, entertaining performer. She was consistently on top of her game, regardless of the story line she was in at the time.

#7 Lillian Garcia

Lillian was a fixture on WWE TV for many years.

Some readers might be scratching their heads right now in disbelief. However, if you truly think about it, Lillian was one of the greatest ring announcers WWE would have. She was always very positive and upbeat, as well as easy on the eyes too!

Lillian would struggle to find a balance between her love of professional wrestling, and her music career, which suddenly began to take off. Eventually, Lillian left the ring, in exchange for more time with her family, as well as time to focus on her music.

Over the span of some 17 years, Lillian was a fixture in the WWE. She had some periods of time where she took a brief hiatus, but for the most part, Lillian was the go-to ring announcer, and the fans absolutely adored her.

#6 Vickie Guerrero

Vickie wore plenty of hats in the WWE.

Chances are, Vickie Guerrero probably got on your nerves in a major way. Her trademark phrase “EXCUUUUSE ME!,” was similar to the sound of nails on a chalkboard. Her role was to get under the skin of the entire fanbase, which is a task she executed with ease.

Vickie has since left the business and has also remarried. I’m sure that her late husband, Eddie Guerrero is pleased with the happiness she has found in life since his passing. It’s also worth noting that Vickie and Eddie had a daughter, named Shaul.

Shaul actually spent some time in NXT, as well as FCW. She worked in the developmental process for roughly four years, before being released in 2014. Shaul is engaged to WWE Superstar Aiden English of The Vaudevillains.

Vickie spent over a decade with the WWE. She was written off of television in July of 2016.

#5 Luna Vachon

Luna was a menacing villain.

You would be hard-pressed to find anyone, let alone a female Superstar as intimidating as Luna Vachon. A descendant of the legendary Vachon wrestling family, Luna certainly fit the mould you would expect from anyone related to Mad Dog Vachon. For over two decades, Luna travelled the world as one of the most dominant women's competitors of all-time.

Early on in her career, Luna got started working in The Fabulous Moolah's promotion. Over time, WWE officials started taking notice of her incredible talent, and eventually signed Luna in the early 1990’s.

Luna spent much of her WWE tenure as a valet to various heel Superstars. Her unique presence provided an unmatched advantage for whoever had her in their respective corner.

Unfortunately, Luna had a very difficult struggle with addiction. While the WWE paid for her to go into rehabilitation, Luna could never quite beat the demon of addiction. Sadly, she passed away in 2010, after she overdosed on a mixture of pharmaceutical prescription drugs.

Luna was buried at a private ceremony, in North Carolina, on the grounds of her dear friend, Andre the Giant’s property.

#4 Michelle McCool

Takers wife has an identity of her own!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Michelle McCool is much more than “just The Undertaker’s wife.” In fact, McCool was a very accomplished in-ring competitor, with four championship victories to her credit.

In the summer of 2004, Michelle entered the Raw Divas Search. She would finish seventh overall, with Christy Hemme winning the contest. Despite not winning the contest, the company liked the potential they saw in McCool, which led to her being signed to a WWE contract.

After training, Michelle would eventually make her main roster debut later on in 2004, during an episode of Smackdown.

In 2008, the women Superstars began being referred to as “Divas.” In fact, Michelle would go on to become the first ever Divas Champion, after defeating Natalya for the right to be named the inaugural title holder.

Of course, that wouldn't be her only title win. By the end of her career, Michelle would be recognised as a two-time Divas Champion, as well as a two-time women’s champion. She was even diagnosed with skin cancer and has come out suriving the disease. Respect to the deadwoman!

#3 Beth Phoenix

The Glamzon in all her glory!

If we were playing a game of word association, the first word that comes to mind when I think of Beth Phoenix is “powerhouse.”

Long before she was known as The Glamazon, Beth was turning heads as an amateur wrestler. In fact, she would become the first female to ever be a part of the varsity squad, at Notre Dame High School.

Beth would further her skill level as a member of the USA Wrestling team also. She knew at that time in her life, that she wanted to become a professional wrestler.

Whether you knew her as The Glamazon, or for her time during the Glamarella era, Beth Phoenix was as good as it would ever get in women’s wrestling. Beth was also a part of the WWE main roster during a highly competitive time when the level of female talent was extremely high.

Even with the fierce competition she faced, Beth would still become a four-time women’s champion. These days, Beth is spending her time with WWE Hall of Famer, Edge. Beth and Edge are currently married, with two children and appear to be doing very well.

#2 Chyna

Chyna was one of the most intimidating forces in wrestling.

We could all live to see a dozen lifetimes, but we would never see another female wrestler with the insane presence that Chyna brought to the ring. Chyna made a career out of destroying everyone she faced, male or female. She resembled a professional bodybuilder but had the demeanour of an angry pit bull.

Most of us can still remember the night Chyna emerged from her seat in the audience and immediately took out Marlena. From that point, Chyna would begin serving as the muscle for Degeneration-X, which was a role that fit her perfectly.

Chyna would obviously go on to have a very successful WWE career. She would not only win the Women’s Championship, but also the Intercontinental Championship, not once, but twice.

Chyna would also face her share of personal issues outside the ring, which included excessive drug abuse, as well as alcoholism. Chyna was found dead at her home in California, in April of 2016.

#1 Miss Elizabeth

Miss Elizabeth with The Mega Powers.

She was the epitome of class, elegance and pure beauty. Miss Elizabeth is undoubtedly the most well-known valet of all-time. She is best known for her time spent with The Macho Man Randy Savage.

Elizabeth began her career in 1985, at the height of the 80’s wrestling boom. She was brought in during the angle in which all the managers competed for the right to represent Savage.

Elizabeth was more than just eye candy for the fans on the front row. She would be incorporated in a variety of story lines, throughout the years. One in particular involved George The Animal Steele. However, her most popular story line was during the Mega Powers era, when she served as the valet for both Savage and Hogan.

Miss Elizabeth even joined the nWo for a short time as well. She was serving as a manager for the Four Horsemen, then turned on the Horsemen, resulting in her alliance with the nWo.

In 2003, Elizabeth was in a controversial relationship with Lex Luger. During this time, Luger apparently discovered Elizabeth not breathing and non-responsive. He then called 9-1-1 for emergency assistance.

Paramedics rushed Elizabeth to the hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead. Elizabeth was only 42 years old at the time of her untimely passing.
