WWE News: Jericho reveals why he invented Money in the Bank match

Chris Jericho believes Kevin Owens has what it takes to become the next big thing in WWE

Chris Jericho, the creator of Money in the Bank match, was interviewed by Jonathan Coachman on ESPN’s WWE Off The Top Rope. Jericho spoke candidly with Coach about his involvement in the creation of Money in the Bank match, working with Styles at WrestleMania and who he thinks next big stars are.

Jericho revealed to Coachman that the match’s original idea was to have a title shot the next night on Raw, but it evolved into the briefcase idea on its own and as a result we are having a unique match that is must watch for WWE fans all around the universe. He also remembered the 2012 MITB match, where he was hanging on for dear life by holding just the briefcase and not having any ladder under him. He also remembered how close the briefcase was to slipping before he could get on a ladder.

On talking about his WrestleMania match with Styles, he told to Coach that he had wanted to be there ever since he heard that the event would take place in Dallas. Jericho also remembered how great a worker Styles is and what he has achieved in WWE so far.

When asked about who he thinks that the next big star would be, Jericho referenced all his fellow Money in the Bank participants. But, Jericho seems to be impressed with Owens unique work and he told that it would help him to become a big star. He also talked about how Finn Balor, Nakamura or Styles could easily become the next big stars.

When talking about his match with HBK at WrestleMania 19, Jericho revealed the fact that the match was put together in twenty minutes. He also remembered how big it was to him to work with Michaels as he was HBK fan himself. He also spoke about the Brahma Bull and told that The Rock is very underrated as a in-ring worker due to his incredible mic skills. He also revealed how much he enjoyed working with The Rock, both as a rival and together.
