WWE SmackDown Live Preview: 8 November, 2016

Time to keep differences aside

The heat between Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live just keeps rising, as we edge closer towards Survivor Series. Last night on Raw, the red brand filled their teams for Survivor Series, and now it’s up SmackDown to deliver the goods.

The crowd in Glasgow will be treated with the live taping of the show and due to the importance of the venue; we might get to see some bold booking decisions.

However, the fallout of what happened on Raw will, indeed, be the major talking point this week on SmackDown. Here is a look at the things that we could expect from this week’s SmackDown Live.

#5 Hometown bad luck for Becky?

Becky could lose her title

Ideally, superstars performing on their home turf are booked strongly. However, WWE has been taking a different route altogether. If you have any doubts about the same, ask Sasha Banks, who lost the Raw Women’s championship in front of her hometown fans, in one of the most historic matches in the WWE history.

While Glasgow might not exactly be Becky’s hometown, it is in the United Kingdom itself, and this could be bad news for Becky. She will be challenged for the championship by Alexa Bliss, and if WWE sticks to the pattern it has followed these days, Becky might drop the title.

#4 Building up the mid card matches at Survivor Series

Nikki will lead team SmackDown

Raw completely unveiled their teams for Survivor Series last night, and SmackDown still has a slot left for the tag team category. Rhyno, Heath Slater, Hype Bros, American Alpha and the Usos are the current teams in the mix, and there is still one more announcement to be made, which we could expect this week.

Elsewhere, the subplot involving, Nikki Bella and Carmella, would be something to watch out for. Natalya as the coach of Team SmackDown makes matters more interesting. Altogether, the mid card scenario of SmackDown carries some huge potential, which hopefully the writers will take advantage of, this week.

#3 What will SmackDown do with James Ellsworth?

Have we seen the last of Ellsworth?

James Ellsworth has been a major name on the SmackDown roster for the past few weeks. Last week, Ellsworth was instrumental in making Dean Ambrose the new number one contender, but from what we saw, this was supposed to be his last appearance on SmackDown.

He was carried out of the building by security, but the question is: Did WWE close the chapter of Ellsworth completely?

We are bound to get an idea this week on SmackDown. If WWE completely ignores his existence this week and goes forward with the Survivor Series buildup, it would be safe to say that we might not see Ellsworth till Royal Rumble or some other random occasion.

#2 Ziggler has an opponent

Zayn defeated Rusev to get the shot

Last week on SmackDown Live, Dolph Ziggler issued an open challenge to the Raw roster and last night, Sami Zayn was chosen as the opponent for Ziggler. Ziggler and Zayn will now go head to head at Survivor Series for the Intercontinental Championship, and apart from the title, it should also be seen as a war between SmackDown and Raw.

If Zayn wins, he will take the championship to Monday Night Raw, and this is something that SmackDown wouldn’t want. So much is at stake, due to this and Ziggler is bound to address Zayn this week on SmackDown.

#1 Team SmackDown co-existing:

Time to keep differences aside

The struggles of Team Raw were the focus point of this week’s Monday Night Raw. Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens announced themselves as the co-captains, Braun Strowman made his intentions clear and Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, found it hard to co-exist with Jericho and Owens; all of this was put together impressively by the red brand.

Team SmackDown also has some interesting subplots and characters that would be worth banking in on. The friction between Ambrose and AJ Styles, the lone wolf run of Baron Corbin, Randy Orton as the new member of Wyatt Family and many other factors, make this week’s SmackDown a must-watch episode.
