Ellsworth returned to help Carmella for the second time

3 WWE Returns That Nobody Wanted To See

WWE always tries their best when it comes to a superstars return. Most returns are surprises that people love to see. Like the recent Dean Ambrose return was booked perfectly by the WWE. Fans would always go crazy for his return after 8 months of absence, but WWE's execution was amazing. While most of the times the fans like their decision, sometimes WWE gives them what they didn't ask for.

#3 James Ellsworth (2018)

James Ellsworth first showed up on WWE TV in 2016. He was involved as the funny element in the AJ Styles - Dean Ambrose feud. He became more popular once he coupled with Carmella. Ellsworth helped Carmella win matches by distracting her opponents. He also helped her capture the Money in the Bank briefcase.

On the November 7 episode of Smackdown Live, Ellsworth lost an intergender match to Becky Lynch and was attacked by Carmella afterward. This was his last appearance for WWE.

At Money in the Bank 2018, Ellsworth returned to the company. He came out dressed as Asuka which distracted the "Empress of Tomorrow" and helped Carmella retain her title. This time the return didn't feel like fans wanted to see it.

It was repetitive and WWE gave us a rewind of what happened a year before. The fans showed no signs of love towards this storyline and hence WWE booked an angle where Ellsworth was fired by Smackdown GM Paige.

#2 Alberto Del Rio (2015)

Alberto Del Rio was fired from WWE in August 2014 for "unprofessional conduct". Del Rio was not happy with WWE for quite a while and some backstage incident resulted in his departure.

But at Hell in a Cell 2015, he made a shocking return to the company. No one predicted that it was going to happen. He answered John Cena's US Open Challenge and went on to win the title from Cena. But his return was always going to fail as WWE booked him in an awful gimmick. He was paired with Zeb Colter and the duo was called "MexAmerica". In 2016, he was a part of another dreadful stable known as "League of Nations".

On August 18, 2016, Del Rio was suspended for violating WWE's Wellness Policy. He then exercised an opt-out clause in his contract and WWE finally released him on September 9, 2016. WWE fans never cared for what Del Rio had to offer after those 5 minutes at Hell in a Cell. WWE can be blamed for his poor run but Del Rio didn't do much good from his side either.

#1 Kane (2017)

Kane returned yet again in 2017

The "Big Red Machine" Kane has made several returns to WWE over the years. His recent return was a success when he reunited with Daniel Bryan. But one of the most awful returns Kane had was in 2017. During a Steel Cage match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, Kane came from beneath the ring and Chokeslammed "The Big Dog".

After then, he turned on Braun Strowman and that resulted in another disastrous feud between the two. He was even made a part of the Universal Championship Fatal-4-Way match at the Royal Rumble.

But the only reason WWE put him in the match was so that he could take the pin. The next night, he lost a Last Man Standing match to Braun Strowman which was his last match of the run.

Honestly, this was one of the most unnecessary bookings WWE has made. There was no need for Kane to be involved in and around the Universal Championship. Fans reacted likewise and didn't care at all about what Kane was doing on WWE TV.
