Will Rey Mysterio become the best in the world?

5 Biggest Things WWE Secretly Told Us On SmackDown Live

After a pretty emotional episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE advanced the narrative this week with another decent edition of SmackDown Live.

Since WWE Evolution hits our TV screens this Sunday, the creative team had a lot of expectations to fulfil and sell the PPV to entice anticipation and excitement.

While the blue brand did focus on advancing storylines, significant emphasis was not laid upon the women's PPV and the show remained more concerned on selling WWE World Cup.

Despite the limitations, the in-ring quality of the matches was brilliant, with Rey Mysterio tearing the house down with the Miz, and Randy Orton continuing to display his sadistic side ahead of Crown Jewel.

Therefore, with all that transpired tonight, the company did try to tease a lot of things vicariously through some of their segments and matches. What were they? Let's find out.

Here are the 5 biggest things WWE secretly told us on SmackDown Live.

#1 The Bar needed the Big Show to even the field against the New Day

Was this is a good decision?

Considering that he turned heel last week on a historical episode of SmackDown Live, Big Show continued his alleged alliance with the Bar to square off against Kofi Kingston.

The former World Champion wasted no time and quickly started decimating Kingston, with continuous chokeslams to the former SmackDown Tag-Team Champion.

While the Bar did defeat the New Day to become the new Champions, it definitely seems like the company thinks Big Show's inclusion makes them more believable as a threat to the blue brand fans.

Judging by what Byron Saxton said on the commentary, maybe the Bar wasn't proficient enough to defeat the New Day on their own which led them to find a monstrous alliance in Big Show.

There's no denying that this rivalry is far from over and will continue for a while, but Big Show's involvement certainly teases the fact that Cesaro and Sheamus could have a hard time defeating the New Day on their own.

#2 An unexpected heel turn could be coming very very soon

This could happen

Judging by how things have been transpiring between two of the biggest babyfaces on SmackDown Live, it definitely seems like the company could be teasing something big to happen in the coming weeks.

With AJ Styles is set to defend the WWE Championship against Daniel Bryan at WWE Crown Jewel and the competitors have already started to feel the heat and animosity.

After the Phenomenal One unintentionally hit Bryan with the Pele kick, WWE took the spot and sold the entire moment like an intentional hit to Bryan by the WWE Champion.

While both the superstars did confront each other backstage, Bryan certainly felt that the kick was intentional which led to a strange quarrel between the two.

Considering that these two are natural babyfaces at this point, there's a strong possibility that someone would turn on the other in order to keep the story compelling and exciting for the fans on the blue brand.

Since Daniel Bryan plays a more relatable underdog character, it might be A.J. Styles that turns on the former WWE Champion and makes his life more difficult.

#3 The blue brand is not ready for Asuka and the WWE Universe is not ready for Evolution

This segment disappointed

Despite being a life-long admirer of women's wrestling, there's no denying that WWE has not brought any legitimate excitement whilst booking their first-ever Women's PPV.

Since the creative team are having a hard time arranging the event, WWE was left with nothing but predictable segments that would do more harm to the event, eventually.

While Becky Lynch's feud with Charlotte has been appreciated in abundance, the rest of the female competitors are struggling to get a suitable spot on the card, with many talented women being sidelined and pushed to the Battle Royal.

With Asuka and Ember Moon standing tall this week on their significant brands, it definitely feels like the winner of the Battle Royal will be determined between these two.

It's a shame that the Empress of Tomorrow's credibility has been diminished and her entire offensive style of wrestling seems too stagnant now. Maybe the WWE is not ready for Asuka as well as the PPV they have on Sunday.

#4 Charisma always outshines professional wrestling ability in the WWE

Couldn't agree more

With superstars from different backgrounds scratching and clawing to make a name for themselves, their lack of personality, at times ends up costing them a lot than they would have thought.

There's no denying that in-ring ability is very significant in establishing a performer from his/her roots, but what makes you a superstar is your ability to interact with the crowd.

The Miz's segment with Rey Mysterio solidified everything that the company believes in. Judging by how the A-Lister sarcastically taunted Mysterio about the fact that the complexion of the business has changed, more emphasis is on the evolution of personalities rather than in-ring wrestling.

Since the Awesome One perfectly plays the heel that bashes the superstars that take the independent route, the company certainly spoke their feelings vicariously through the former Intercontinental Champion, and it made sense.

While the Mexican sensation did go on to defeat the Miz tonight, whatever the A-Lister said about today's landscape was perfectly factual.

#5 Randy Orton has still not erased the Enigma in Jeff Hardy

A riveting encounter
Ad

There's no denying that Randy Orton has emerged to become one of the favourite heels on the main roster, with his viciousness coming to full display again in his clash with Jeff Hardy tonight.

Considering that the bout was basically promoting WWE's World Cup tournament, the Viper wasted no time and continued inflicting pain upon his rival in the Charismatic Enigma.

While their feud did hit a full-stop at Hell in a Cell, the fact that Orton promised to erase the Enigma would have coerced Hardy to turn into something more darker.

Since he did attack Samoa Joe viciously two weeks ago, the Charismatic Enigma still remains a babyface; with Randy Orton playing the sadistic heel throughout the encounter.

Judging by how it all transpired tonight, it definitely feels like the Apex Predator isn't done punishing the former United States Champion, and will continue to display his viciousness in the coming weeks.
