Also, with his plethora of experience and analytical skills, he will bring a lot of substance to the Hindi commentary, which can be mundane at times.

What’s next?

Nehra will start his new role during the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens on November 16.

He will join other Hindi commentators which will include Aakash Chopra, Kapil Dev, and the rest.

Author’s take

Former cricketers have usually turned their attention to the commentary box after announcing their retirement from active cricket.

Thus, Nehra's decision is not very surprising. Also, the fact that his anecdotes and tonality have reverberated well with the audiences should make this transition easier for the Delhi man.

However, he still has to come to terms with the complexities and modus operandi of live broadcasting.
