What's the story?

Indian veteran bowler Ashish Nehra, who is all set to retire from international cricket on November 1 has opened about his future plans.

In an interview with News 18, Nehra did not rule out coaching or commentary.

“I mean no role is overruled, coaching commentary what comes. I am not saying that I can’t do coaching or commentary, that only time will tell,” he said being optimistic about a role in the Indian team in the near future.

“Who knows, maybe (I take up the role). I am a sort of person who has never say never attitude but who knows. As I said, I have planned until first November now and then I will see what I want to do after that,” Nehra added when asked about becoming a coach/mentor in the IPL next year.

Shortly after the conclusion of Australia's tour to India, Nehra decided to call it a day on his career which has lasted eighteen years.

He will play his farewell match against New Zealand in the first match of the three match T20I series which begins on November 1 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.

The details

Nehra, who made his debut in 1999 has had a memorable career. He has played a big role in India's success over the years and has produced many match-winning performances.

He last played a T20I against England in February this year. He injured himself during the IPL and was ruled out of action for a few months.

After recovering, he was included in India's T20I squad to take on Australia last month but did not play in either match.

What's next?

The first match of the three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand will take place in Delhi on November 1.

Nehra has had an extremely illustrious career and the success he has achieved is tantamount with the hard work he has put in on and off the field.

He will look to end on a high and pick up a few wickets in his farewell match against the Blackcaps at his home ground.
