MS Dhoni is not to be messed with as Kevin Pietersen found out

MS Dhoni may seem like a silent sage who doesn’t want to say many words but he has shown time and again that when the situation demands it, he is more happy to oblige. During Rising Pune Supergiants’ opening IPL 2017 game against Mumbai Indians, Kevin Pietersen’s attempt to troll Dhoni ended up backfiring on him.

WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO HERE.

It all happened during the second over of the Mumbai Indians’ innings which was bowled by Deepak Chahar. Manoj Tiwary, who was fielding at first slip, was speaking to the commentators. Mumbai Indians surprised everyone by opening with Jos Buttler to partner Parthiv Patel after losing the toss and being asked to bat.

Tiwary added that while they didn’t expect Buttler to bat, he wanted the Pune bowlers to bowl more outswingers. Then the conversation moved to his fitness and while adding that Tiwary looked fit, Kevin Pietersen also tried a cheeky dig at Dhoni which backfired as the 35-year-old came up with the perfect response.

When KP tried to get the better of Dhoni by asking Tiwary to tell the keeper that the Englishman was a better golfer than him, Dhoni simply smiled and said that KP was still his first Test wicket which brought the house down and sent KP into a fit of laughter.

Here is the entire conversation and what transpired:

Kevin Pietersen: You are looking good, mate. Can you just do me a favor and can you just whisper in MS’ ear that I am a better golfer than him?”

Manoj Tiwary: (smiling) I will do that after this ball.

Kevin Pietersen: Thank you. Come on, you have got an opportunity now. Please tell him. Please tell him.

Manoj Tiwary: (speaking to MS Dhoni) bhaiya, Kevin Pietersen bol raha hai ki woh aapse better golfer hai. (still laughing) [ Kevin Pietersen says he is a better golfer than you]

MS Dhoni: (speaking to the mic and addressing KP with a smile on his face) He is still my first Test wicket

Kevin Pietersen: (failing to contain his laughter) It was a referral. It was a referral. Not Out. I’ll tell you what it’s wonderful when you get real good people on the mic, you got the players on there, you get some great stuff. Well done, mate.

Both parties ended the conversation with a smile even if one was trying to outsmart the other. And Dhoni wasn’t done having fun. After Imran Tahir got a fortuitous lbw call to dismiss Jos Buttler, who was on fire and had an inside edge, he didn’t get the rub of the green on another lbw call which didn’t go his way.

Kieron Pollard was plumb in front but was given not out. What goes around might have come around but Dhoni was having none of it as he signaled for a DRS call, even though there is no DRS in T20s.
