South India has always contributed to the Indian cricket team with talented players and coaches. With the domestic setup in India reaching new levels and with the rise of IPL, many new players are coming into the reckoning for the national side year after year. This has led to the dominance of the Indian team in world cricket.

Comprising of the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa, South India has produced cricketers such as Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman etc. Speaking of the present scenario, players from South India have been performing well for the country and they alone can form a squad which can be formidable.

Here is a look at the cricketers from South India who will walk into the XI.

#1 Openers: KL Rahul & Mayank Agarwal

Reserve: Murali Vijay

KL and Mayank's partnership at the top started in Karnataka a long time ago. It would not be a surprise if they pair up for the national team too in the future. Hence, they will be the preferred choice and will provide a good start to the team.

On the other hand, Murali Vijay, who has been dropped now due to bad form can be used as a reserve opener if needed.

#2 Middle order: Ambati Rayudu, Karun Nair and Hanuma Vihari

Reserve: Manish Pandey

This middle order is the backup middle-order of the current Indian cricket team. They have all made a mark in the domestic setup and if given chances, they can be a difficult trio to get past for the opposition on their day.

With Vihari and Karun being part-time off-spinners, they can provide a few overs too. Manish Pandey can also be used based on the conditions and the format.

#3 Wicketkeeper: Dinesh Karthik

Reserve: Sanju Samson

England v India: Specsavers 2nd Test - Day Three

Dinesh has been in and out of the national side since more than a decade. He is now part of India's ODI setup and will be the obvious choice for the wicket-keeper's role. Kerala's Sanju Samson will be a worthy back up wicket-keeper to the Tamil Nadu player.

#4 All Rounders: R Ashwin, Shreyas Gopal and Vijay Shankar

Reserve: K Gowtham & W Sundar

This trio of all-rounders have got a lot of variations among them and they would be an asset for any team they play for. With 2 bowling all-rounders and 1 batting all-rounder in Vijay Shankar, they would render a balance to the team.

Their batting abilities will be useful when the match goes down to the wire. They also have decent replacements in K Gowtham and Washington Sundar too. Ashwin could handle the captaincy duties as well.

#5 Bowlers: Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj

Reserve: Vinay Kumar and Basil Thampi

England Lions v India A - Day Three
Siraj will lead the pace attack

Though this team might face a few problems in the pace bowling department, they have arguably the best young bowlers in Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad. Siraj. They can also use the experience of Vinay Kumar and Basil Thampi's pace if needed.

This team has the talent to beat any team on their day. Having an experienced coach like Rahul Dravid or Anil Kumble will be the icing on the cake.
