Kohli's 200 was the highlight of the match

Sri Lanka fought hard, losing only two wickets on the final day, to hold on for a draw in the third and final test match of the series in Delhi. Courtesy a win in the second match at Nagpur, India won the series 1-0, clinching their ninth test series on the trot.

Chasing a huge total of 410, Lanka continued from their overnight score of 31-3 and lost their most experienced player in Mathews early on. However, a 112-run stand between Dinesh Chandimal (36) and Dhananjaya de Silva (119 retired hurt) for the fifth wicket ultimately saw the visitors through.

Along with winning their ninth series in a row, the Indian team and its players made quite a few records, and so did the Lankans.

4 - Dhananjaya de Silva became the fourth Sri Lankan player to score a century in the fourth innings away from home. Gurusinha, Jayasurya and Sangakkara are the other three players.

4 - Virat Kohli and Dinesh Chandimal scored a combined total of 493 runs (293 by Kohli & 200 by Chandimal) in the match, placing them fourth on the list of most runs scored by captains of both sides in a test match. The total of 493 runs scored by Kohli-Chandimal is highest in test matches in India.

9 - India equalled Australia's world record of nine consecutive test series wins, which they set between 2005 and 2008.

31 - Virat Kohli had equalled Ricky Ponting's record of 31 wins in a calendar year with the win in the last match.

299 - Sri Lanka's second innings score, highest among touring team's fourth innings scores on Indian soil. They would've become the first touring side in cricketing history to amass 300 runs in the fourth innings in India. Unfortunately, Kohli shook hands with the Lankans one run short of the milestone
