Pro Kabaddi League 5: Best playing 7 from the Jaipur leg

The Jaipur leg of Pro Kabaddi League 5 ended with the home team, Jaipur Pink Panthers winning just 1 out of their 6 home matches which ended their chances of making the play-offs in PKL 5.

Their poor performance in the home leg means Pune reached the play-offs before their home leg. The Jaipur leg features 2 of the best corners of PKL 5, the best cover defender of PKL 5, a raider performing miracles, a superstar raider leading by example and an upcoming all-rounder.

Right Corner: Ravinder Pahal

With the Bulls neding to win to stay in contention for a place in the play-offs, their most experienced defender Ravinder Pahal proved his class, scoring a High 5 against Dabang Delhi. It was Pahal’s 2nd High 5 of PKL 5.

Pahal stopped the Delhi raiders in their tracks with his trademark thigh holds. With Bulls needing to win their next 3 matches to have a chance to make the play-offs Pahal’s form is good news for Bulls.

Right in: Ajay Thakur

Ajay Thakur proved once again came up with last minute raid heroics to decisively to turn the match in favour of the Tamil Thalaivas. This was the 4th occasion that Ajay turned the match in the final minute, highlighting his game changing ability.

Ajay’s efforts mean he is now only behind Pardeep Narwal in the top raiders of PKL 5 with 185 raid points. Despite Tamil Thalaivas suffering a poor campaign Ajay has enhanced his reputation evolving as one of the best raiders of PKL.

The Bengal Warriors captain produced a superb performance helping the Warriors to claim revenge against Puneri Paltan. Surjeet was in his elements scoring his 7th High 5 of PKL 5, only Surender Nada has more High 5s in PKL 5. Surjeet’s efforts went a long way in reducing Pune to just 19 points which was their lowest score in PKL 5. Surjeet is now 3rd in the defenders leaderboard with 62 tackle points.

Centre: Rohit Kumar

Rohit Kumar proved his class scoring his 10th Super 10 of PKL 5 in a must win against Dabang Delhi.

The “Khiladi Kumar” outfoxed the Delhi defence using his hand touches, escapes and kicks to a devastating effect. Rohit has now scored 168 raid points overall and with 3 matches remaining with the kind of form Rohit is in he is looking good to reach 200 raid points. With Bengaluru Bulls facing 3 must win encounters an inform Rohit is imperative.

Jaipur suffered a home leg to forget but in their adversity, they have found a potential star in all-rounder Nitin Rawal. Nitin’s just could not be ignored due to his undoubted potential and also his 5 point raid against Delhi. The youngster scored 10 raid points and 4 tackle points against Delhi showcasing his all-round ability. Overall Nitin scored 38 points from 6 matches in the Jaipur leg. Nitin’s pace and agility makes him a fine raider, while he also possesses a fine ankle hold

Left in: Rishank Devadiga

Rishank Devadiga makes the team for his record breaking performance against Jaipur Pink Panthers. Rishank Devadiga scored 28 raid points, which is the highest by a player in a single PKL match.

He also equaled the PKL record of most raid points by a player in the 1st half by scoring 15 raid points. In the absence of Nitin Tomar Rishank led the team by example and the win takes U.P to just a point away from making the play-offs.

Left Corner: Fazel Atrachali

Fazel Atrachali came up with a stunning defensive performance to once again silence “Dubki King” Pardeep Narwal. Fazel scored 4th High 5 of PKL 5 helping Gujarat to their 2nd win over Patna Pirates.

Fazel sent Pardeep off court on 3 occasions, which played a large part in Pardeep scoring just 4 raid points, which is his lowest score in PKL 5. Fazel has now scored 53 tackle points and became the 6th player to reach 50 tackle points in PKL 5.
