This will go down in the history of PSL as the highest runs ever chased. What a knock from Jason Roy and Hafeez was just the topping on the cake. A target of 241 was chased with 10 deliveries to spare. Quite incredible and this will definitely give Quetta rejuvenated hopes ahead of their final clash. The PSL saga continues with Islamabad United slated to meet the Lahore Qalandars tomorrow. Up until then, its goodbye and goodnight from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty, and my fellow commentator Karthik Raj. Cheers!!
Mohammad Nawaz (Quetta Gladiators captain): I think, every captain wants his players to play this sort of an innings. I will never forget this innings. The discussion was that we have to show intent from ball one if we have to chase this down. Guptill and Roy continued that and then Hafeez bhai came and batted brilliantly, It wasn’t a tough call as Umar bhai and Ifti bhai will play at 5 and 6. Hafeez was at no 4 because of the way he times the ball. We needed a batsman who could play cricketing shots and get us through. It is a big win and will want to finish on a high. We have to wait for the other results to go our way but we are focused on our performance.
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi captain): The way Jason Roy played was incredible. I think our bowling wasn’t up to the mark and didn’t execute our plans. I think nothing was quite effective. We felt that 2nd time, the wicket will play better. We played the team we felt will yield us results. It's a special feeling. The way Ayub started, the way he built the innings was brilliant. As a youngster he is improving day by day which is a great sign for Pakistan but Jason Roy just destroyed it today. We have to sit and talk for the next match. We have back-to-back games coming up and we have to focus on that.
Jason Roy, Player of the Match: Mate I just went out there and had some fun. You have to go after everyone. It was just one of those games where it came off. Was a long time coming I guess, extremely happy. On pitches like these, just have to play proper shots. It was very tough for the bowlers out there. We have the players for sure but fell short on some occasions. Chasing that sort of total doesn't happen too often, going to cherish it.
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
Martin Guptill: Unbelievable, J Roy, probably one of the best T20 innings I have seen. The striking from start to finish was spectacular. Pretty happy to roll it over and take it home. Originally, we were told that we had to chase it down in 13.2 overs to improve the net run-rate. To finish it off with ten balls to spare is a pretty special effort. Had a tough couple of games in between but that is T20 cricket isn't it. Hopefully, we can get some momentum and scrape through to the play-offs. Babar is a great player. He is not going to be brutal with his hitting but he plays classical shots and it was good to watch.
Quetta Gladiators won by 8 wickets (with 10 deliveries to spare)
Jason Roy 145*(63) | Mohammad Hafeez 41*(18) Mujeeb Ur Rahman 1/38(4)
It turned out to be a fascinating display of batsmanship from Jason Roy as he almost single-handedly won the match for Quetta Gladiators. He made it look ridiculously easy, helping the Quetta Gladiators chase the highest target in the history of PSL.
Quetta needed a blistering start to harbor any hopes of getting close to the victory target of 241. Roy was quite clear with his intentions right from the word go and struck boundaries at will. Martin Guptill also started well but couldn't quite carry on and was dismissed on a personal score of 21 in just 8 deliveries.
Will Smeed joined Roy in the middle but the former was more of a spectator as Roy kept on unleashing some audacious shots and kept them in the game. They had to go at a rate of more than 12 right from the outset and Roy ensured that the required rate was always below 12.
Some of the shots oozed class and confidence and it was a mixture of brute force and delightful timing. Smeed's dismissal brought in Hafeez in the middle and the man for the ages didn't disappoint. He came out all guns blazing and shared an unbeaten stand of 93 runs to take the Gladiators over the line.
Roy's knock of 145 was studded with 20 fours and 5 sixes while Hafeez remained unbeaten on 41 off 18 deliveries which included a 6 fours and a couple of sixes. Earlier, Babar Azam's 115 helped Peshawar Zalmi post a commendable 240 but it didn't prove to be enough in the end.
This was something incredible. Take a bow Jason Roy, this should rank as one of the very best in T20 cricket. Peshawar Zalmi was literally blown away despite scoring a massive 240 in their allotted 20 overs. Roy remained unbeaten on 145 off just 63 deliveries.
18.2 Azmatullah Omarzai to Jason Roy, ROY FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! Full and angling in, Roy presents a full face of the bat and just casually lofts it over long-off for a maximum. SIX!! What a spectacular chase this has been from Quetta Gladiators. They track down 240 with ten balls to spare!
18.2 Azmatullah Omarzai to Jason Roy, slower bouncer attempted but it goes over Roy's head. WIDE called!
18.1 Azmatullah Omarzai to Mohammad Hafeez, back of a length delivery, Hafeez cracks it to deep covers. Single taken
Azmatullah Omarzai [3-0-27-0] is back into the attack.
What a run chase this has been and since the departure of Will Smeed, Mohammad Hafeez has take it upon himself to do the job for his team. It has been incredible striking from the veteran batter.

17.6 Aamer Jamal to Mohammad Hafeez, full and angling in, Hafeez looks to whip it away but he misses. LBW appeal turned down while the umpire turns it down. However, Babar Azam has gone for the DRS! No bat involved. Umpire's call on impact and wickets missing. So, Peshawar Zalmi lose their review!
17.5 Aamer Jamal to Mohammad Hafeez, HAMMERED OVER THE FENCE! Full, slow and wide of off, Hafeez thumps it over long-off for a maximum. SIX!! Babar Azam thought he had a chance but the ball just beyond his jump!
17.4 Aamer Jamal to Mohammad Hafeez, INSIDE-EDGED FOR A BOUNDARY! EVERYTHING GOING QUETTA'S WAY! Full and wide of off, Hafeez moves across and tries to play the scoop over short fine-leg but he gets an inside-edge past the stumps. The ball runs to the fence as Quetta get another boundary!
17.3 Aamer Jamal to Jason Roy, back of a length with width, Roy cuts it to deep covers for a single
