4 Potential Opponents For The Rock At WrestleMania 35

Dave Meltzer, of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, recently reported that The Rock wants to wrestle again at next year's WrestleMania 35, which will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the site of his last competitive match against John Cena. Of course, his most recent official match took place back at WrestleMania 32, where he defeated Erick Rowan in just a few seconds.

Since then, The Rock has made a few appearances on WWE television, however, he hasn't even teased the idea of a match since he last wrestled, which led many to believe that his in-ring days were over.

But, if The Rock can find time in his busy schedule, and if he can convince the powers that be in Hollywood that he won't get injured like he did back at WrestleMania 29, then we'll probably see him have a match when WWE heads to the New York market for next year's big show.

So, who will The Rock face when we get there? Well, there are a few big names on the roster who have a good chance of being "The Great One's" opponent next spring.

#4 Brock Lesnar

The original main event for WrestleMania 30 wasn't supposed to be Randy Orton vs. Batista, and it certainly wasn't supposed to involve Daniel Bryan, as the original plan for the show was to have Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock be the main event. But, as previously mentioned, The Rock suffered an injury at WrestleMania 29 which prevented WWE from shooting the angle the next night on Raw.

As we all know by now, it does look like Brock Lesnar, who is currently the WWE Universal Champion, will leave WWE to fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship after he presumably drops the title at SummerSlam. But, if he does happen to stick around, or if WWE is able to bring him back for a one-off against The Rock at WrestleMania, then that would be the obvious match to make.

Sadly though, I don't think The Rock will end up facing Brock Lesnar at next year's WrestleMania simply because Brock is in the UFC. But, if he's around, then this should be one of the featured matches at next year's show.

#3 Elias

The Rock vs Elias

If WWE wants to launch Elias as one of their newest, hottest Superstars, then having him go one-on-one with "The Great One" at WrestleMania 35 might be the way to go, especially if The Rock doesn't mind doing the favors for Elias.

Over the last month, Elias has done several radio interviews where he's called out The Rock, and during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw, he challenged the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to come back to the company with his guitar.

Of course, The Rock has been made music somewhat a part of his character, as he's done several "Rock Concerts" on WWE television on top of doing other segments involving his guitar backstage.

So, this does seem like it would be a pretty entertaining feud, although I'm not sure if the match in the ring will be as good as the build for it.

#2 Triple H

Back in 2014, The Rock and Triple H did a backstage segment on SmackDown which led many to believe that a future one-on-one match at WrestleMania was in store for the two WWE legends. However, the match never ended up happening, and to this day, it still hasn't.

Originally, The Rock was going to be Ronda Rousey's partner against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, which was teased a few months after this segment aired, so there's a chance that this segment was meant to lead to the confrontation that took place at WrestleMania 31, which would then lead to a mixed tag match.

If there's someone in WWE who The Rock can completely trust in the ring, it's Triple H. On top of that, if he wants to work a safe, low-injury-risk match while still having a quality performance, then Triple H is the perfect opponent for him.

#1 Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns has been in the main event of each of the last four WrestleMania events, so it's probably pretty safe to assume that he'll continue that streak when WWE heads to MetLife Stadium next spring.

While putting Roman in the ring with The Rock might not be the best idea if WWE wants Roman to be cheered, but it'll definitely get a lot of eyes on "The Big Dog," which is probably all WWE cares about in the end.

The only reason why WWE might not end up doing this match is simple: the finish. Everyone would know that the younger, full-time WWE star (Roman Reigns) is going to beat the part-time guy who only wrestles once a year at most, which might cause the fans to do what they did during the main event of this year's WrestleMania.

But, in terms of possible first time ever dream matches, this might be the biggest one that WWE could do at the moment. So, don't be surprised if The Rock comes back next year to face Roman Reigns.
