4 WWE Legends Who Should Be Surprise Entrants In 2019 Royal Rumble

Over the years, WWE has included a handful of surprise entrants in their annual 30-man Royal Rumble match, some of which have been WWE legends, while others have either been making their company debut or their main roster debut.

Basically, the Royal Rumble match is a great place to bring someone from the past back, or to debut someone who has either had a run in NXT, or who was previously a huge star on the independent scene.

In recent years, WWE's most hardcore and passionate fans have attended the Royal Rumble event, so any return or debut will likely get a huge reaction from the live crowd, as the crowd for the company's annual January pay-per-view are usually just as passionate as the post-WrestleMania Raw crowds are.

For this article specifically, as you can tell from the title, is going to focus on returning legends and not main roster debuts. So, with all that in mind let's get started!

#4 - Scott Hall/Razor Ramon

Scott Hall hasn't had a match in WWE since 2002, and it's been considerably longer than that since he's wrestled under the name Razor Ramon.

If WWE wants to bring Scott Hall back in a wrestling capacity, even if it's just for a one-off in the Royal Rumble match, they'll probably bring him back as Razor Ramon, as that's the character they inducted into their Hall of Fame, and that's what they referred to him as when he showed up at WWE Raw 25.

I don't know how good of shape Hall is in, or whether he'd be cleared to wrestle by WWE, but it would definitely be a gigantic moment if he did come out during next year's Royal Rumble as a surprise, even if he only lasts a few minutes before he's eliminated.

#3 Hulk Hogan

While I personally believe that Hulk Hogan will be the next general manager of Monday Night Raw, there is a chance that WWE could bring him back as a surprise during next year's Royal Rumble match.

The reason is simple: he could hit the ring, lay a bunch of guys out with a big boot, hulk up, toss a few guys, and then get tossed himself. Sure, Hogan does have issues with his back among other things, so carelessly throwing him out of the ring would probably be a bad idea. But, good thing everything is pre-determined so they could find a way to eliminate him safely.

A Hulk Hogan return during the Royal Rumble match would unquestionably get a massive response from the live crowd and from the people watching at home, especially if WWE is able to keep their plan under wraps until his music hits.

#2 Shawn Michaels

Road
Road to WrestleMania?

According to multiple reports, it seems like Shawn Michaels is finally going to return to the ring at WWE's upcoming show in Saudi Arabia on November 2. Of course, WWE hasn't officially announced his in-ring return, but most people are expecting it to happen.

Whether or not he returns for the Saudi Arabia show will probably have no impact on the pop he'd get if he returned as a surprise in the 2019 Royal Rumble. WWE did want him to come back for the 2017 Rumble, which took place in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, but he obviously refused their offer.

If he does wrestle in Saudi Arabia, then he might be willing to do more matches, which could lead to a surprise appearance by HBK in next year's Royal Rumble match.

#1 Steve Austin

The chances of this happening are almost zero. But, it would probably be the most epic moment in Royal Rumble history if Steve Austin made a surprise return at number 30, especially if it could be kept a secret beforehand.

Since retiring back in 2003, Austin has repeatedly said that he has no interest in wrestling again, with one of the main reasons being that he'd have to get back into insane shape to do the type of match he'd want to do, and he's just not interested in committing that kind of time to an in-ring return, as he has other things going on.

But, if he came back during the Rumble, he could come in as the final entrant, and get eliminated by whoever their top heel is a few minutes after he hits the ring. All he'd have to do is hit a few Stunners, throw a few people out, and then get eliminated by a guy like Kevin Owens.
