5 Dream Opponents for Dean Ambrose

Dean
Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are both WWE triple crown winners!

Dean Ambrose, after much anticipation, returned to the ring on Raw to even the odds for his fellow Shield member Seth Rollins against Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.

The Lunatic Fringe has been an integral part of the WWE roster ever since his debut alongside Rollins and Reigns as The Shield in 2012. He has accomplished almost everything a WWE superstar could dream of - the World Championship, the Intercontinental Title, the United States Title, Tag team straps, Money in the Bank briefcase and even 5 Slammy Awards!

But his career hit a major setback when he suffered a triceps injury in December 2017 rendering him unable to wrestle for nearly nine months.

After a long wait, Ambrose has returned in the best shape of his career and the potential dream matches waiting to happen are endless!

So, here are the top 5 dream opponents for Dean Ambrose that we would like to see!

#5 Brock Lesnar

The Beast and The Lunatic have squared off before on the Grandest Stage of Them All for a lacklustre match.

The two fought in a no holds barred street fight at WrestleMania 32 which was a disappointment considering the expectations and the calibre of the wrestlers involved. Lesnar won the match and the feud provided no benefit to either man.

A rematch now would be a different story altogether! It could be a send-off for Lesnar if he is planning to leave WWE and could be a nudge that would push Ambrose straight into the main event.

A hardcore match, like their previous encounter, would be the best way to showcase the creativity and brutality.

#4 Finn Balor

This would be a treat to watch!

A feud between Ambrose and Balor would be a fresh start to the new phase of Dean's career. The promos and segments building up to this match would be entertaining.

Two face wrestlers going at it against each other is a rare occurrence in WWE, and these two are a perfect fit to fill that void.

A high-flying fast-paced match could be expected out of these two which could prove fruitful for an elongated feud. The rivalry could get more and more intense with each match and a Demon may be needed to end this feud.

Only the Demon King could overcome the mind games of the Lunatic Fringe!

#3 AJ Styles

The thing that some fans often forget is that Dean Ambrose was the first WWE World Champion after the brand split made it exclusive to the blue brand. He defended the title at SummerSlam against Dolph Ziggler in a decent match.

Then he lost the title to AJ Styles at Backlash and they feuded for a long time. Most fans remember this feud for all the James Ellsworth shenanigans. This could be a perfect opportunity to redo the rivalry that many were excited about.

The two could battle in a varying set of environments which is always a plus for Ambrose, a TLC match for the World Title could the main event the PPV of the same name which would be held in December of this year.

#2 Roman Reigns

If Roman Reigns wins the Universal Title at SummerSlam in his match against Lesnar, there could not be a better feud for him than against his 'brother' Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose and Reigns, storyline-wise, have been much closer to each other than Seth Rollins. This Brotherhood could be an important factor in this rivalry.

The heel-face dynamics for this match could be very interesting. On the same night that Ambrose returned, Paul Heyman faked an offer of becoming the client for Roman Reigns.

It could be foreshadowing the future. If Reigns joins hands with Heyman to defeat Brock Lesnar then he could be the heel going into the feud. If Ambrose turns on Rollins in his Intercontinental Title match against Ziggler than he could play the bad guy.

The possibilities are endless!

#1 Braun Strowman

Could a match get any crazier than this?

Braun Strowman is undoubtedly one of the most over superstars in the company right now. Every time he appears, the crowd bursts into a 'Get these hands!' chant.

Strowman has been flipping everything in his way - trucks, portable toilets, stages and Kevin Owens! It is time for an opponent at his level of craziness and there is a lot of room for innovation in this feud.

The two have met before when The Shield feuded with The Wyatt Family a couple of years back but Braun is not the same man he was back then. He is no longer a green rookie despised by the fans.

Braun is set for another match against Kevin Owens where his Money in the Bank briefcase is on the line. If he manages to win his match and maybe even cash it in to become the new Universal Champion, then this feud could have an extra layer of intensity and engagement.
