5 Factions The Shield Could Feud With Next

The Shield reunited after SummerSlam 2018
The Shield could be a dominant force in WWE for a long time.

So, they're the talk of the town - nay, the Universe - at the moment, but it finally looks like The Shield are back and in it for the long haul after a tumultuous time last year that saw the Hounds of Justice's reunion blighted by illness and injury.

The Shield more than have their hands full with Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler at the moment - the trio came off worst from a beatdown from the unlikely partners flanked by a substantial portion of the Raw locker room. Needless to say, the six men clashing on Raw this week made it one of the most explosive episodes this year, and an official six-man Tag Team Match set for the Super Show-Down as well as a Universal Championship Match between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns at Hell In A Cell.

The Shield may be pre-occupied for the time being with the Monster Among Men and the Raw Tag Team Champions - but if they emerge victorious, who's next for The Hounds of Justice?

Here are some of the current WWE factions who could take on one of the most dominant forces in the business.

#5 SAnitY

SA
SAnitY's main roster run thus far hasn't set the world alight

Okay, so SAnitY's main roster run has been underwhelming, to say the least - but The Shield vs SAnitY still holds all the cards needed to be a potentially incredible rivalry. Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain were one of NXT's most formidable forces and if Nikki Cross were to rejoin the trio... Wow, you have even more unpredictability on your hands.

SAnitY are currently on the blue brand, though, but with Survivor Series around the corner, both brands are in line to clash - or a move to Raw could very well be the making of the faction! And with one powerhouse, one technician, and one incredibly unpredictable Superstar in their ranks each, this would be a very interesting and evenly matched feud.

#4 The New Day

What a clash of
What a clash of styles this would be

Well, you know what they say - opposites attract. Not many factions are more unpredictable than The Shield, but The New Day may just take that crown!

While The New Day's singles success doesn't measure up to The Shield's by any stretch of the imagination, very few factions have had quite as much success as a team than the current and five-time SmackDown Tag Team Champions. While The Shield have all held Tag Team Championships, all three haven't done so at once - like The New Day with their Freebird rule that allows any two of the three to compete at any one time.

When it comes to popularity, too, this one would definitely be a close call, and nothing short of a dream match - or a dream rematch, following the trios' clash at Survivor Series last year.

Yet again, we have some great match-ups within the dynamics of these trios. With one side on Raw and the other on SmackDown, could Survivor Series signal the sequel for these giants to collide?

#3 The Club

AJ St
AJ Styles and The Good Brothers would be a great opponent

Now, this WOULD be great. With AJ Styles, Gallows and Anderson on the blue brand, it's another one that would require either team to switch brands or clash at a pay-per-view, but with Roman Reigns holding the WWE Universal Championship on Raw and AJ Styles holding the WWE Championship on SmackDown.

The main men on each brand clashing would be a story of its own - but with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose flanking Reigns - well, AJ Styles' backup could very well come in the form of the Good Brothers. While Rollins and Ambrose are both great singles competitors in their own right as well as tag team specialists, you wouldn't bet against them with any foe in the opposite corner, but The Club could be a very formidable opponent for The Shield!

#2 The Wyatt Family

Could the ori
Could the original family be shuffled?

Well, they are one of The Shield's oldest foes - and probably the most familiar, but there would almost definitely be a new dynamic if The Wyatt Family were to reform nowadays. With Harper and Rowan splitting off to become the Bludgeon Brothers - potentially WWE's most dominant tag teams in history - it's quite hard to think that the pair would be on their way back to the Wyatt Family, but Bray's mysterious powers could very well entice them.

Likewise, Braun Strowman has become a monster in his own right and is arguably now the Superstar of the faction. Would he be content playing second fiddle to the Eater of Worlds?

If the Wyatts were to reform to face The Shield, it would probably be a very different Family to that of the previous rivalries, but with Rowan and Wyatt's partner Matt Hardy sidelined, Strowman could call on Wyatt and Harper if he needs fresh partners for his fight against the Hounds of Justice.

#1 The Undisputed Era

A call up
A surprise call-up?

The true wildcards of the list slot in at number one, because this well and truly falls into dream match territory. While The Undisputed Era are currently running rampant in NXT with Adam Cole holding the North American Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championships being locked down within the group, too, with Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong holding the titles after Bobby Fish was sidelined due to injury, there doesn't seem to be any sign of a "call up" any time soon without the teams dropping all the gold at once or bringing it to the main roster and pulling double duty - not something unfamiliar to them, of course.

But an interesting option may be the faction coming from NXT to say they're fighting for the brand and to prove that NXT isn't the lesser brand, and that they can take on ANYONE! Including the top dogs in WWE.

The Undisputed Era vs The Hounds of Justice? Count me in!
