5 PG Era vs Attitude Era matches fans are dying to see

 pg attitude era matches
The Attitude Era vs. the PG era could be one of the greatest storylines that will never happen.

If you were lucky enough to enjoy the Attitude Era of WWE, you saw something completely different than what is presented today. The language is different. The style of wrestling is different. Even the amount of blood is different.

While there may be some big changes between the PG and Attitude eras of WWE, there are still many dream matches between the two times that would be incredible to witness.

#5 Roman Reigns vs. The Rock

This one could still easily happen.

They stick by one another; the Rock has even bailed out Roman Reigns on a couple of occasions. They're..."family," but wouldn't it be great to see this match happen?

Recently, John Cena made Reigns look like an absolute chump in the ring during a promo on Monday Night Raw, and the fans ate it up. Not only was it a great segment between both superstars, but it inched Reigns closer to that heel persona, but WWE hasn't made the jump yet.

Putting him out there with The Rock and the incredible promo work that fans could experience from "The Great One" would be amazing. Once Reigns starts his "This is my yard" thing, The Rock could just go off on him and show him who the true boss is.

As for the match? No-one really bought into Reigns taking on The Undertaker, but this is one match that would see superstars who have somewhat similar styles and movesets which would be perfect.

#4 Daniel Bryan vs. Kurt Angle

Another one that could technically take place

From a strictly technical wrestling aspect of things, this would be one of the best matches imaginable. While it is still somewhat possible, it would take a lot of work to get it to happen and that includes WWE actually clearing Bryan and Angle to get back in the ring.

The promo work would be awesome as both guys can be incredibly serious and goofy, which would make for intense yet humorous segments.

When it all boils down to it, though, the match... the match, the match, the match. If a healthy Daniel Bryan could take on Kurt Angle in his prime and they were given at least 30 minutes, it would be one of the greatest matches of all time.

#3 The New Day vs. New Age Outlaws

Oh, you didn't know? You'd better feel the power!

Two of the greatest and most well-known tag teams of all time... it just makes sense to have them go up against one another.

The New Day already have four tag team championships. The New Age Outlaws finished their careers with six between WWF and WWE combined. No one is going to deny that the two styles clash rather awkwardly, but all five men are professional enough to make it work.

Can you imagine the pop in the arena when "Don't you dare... be sour..." echoed throughout the rafters? It is hard to imagine that there could be a bigger pop than that, but "Oh, you didn't know?" may just be able to surpass it.

#2 AJ Styles vs. Shawn Michaels

This would be an absolute battle for the ages

This is one of those matches that has been teased a lot ever since AJ Styles made his debut in WWE, but HBK isn't likely going to let it happen. Shawn Michaels is retired and he's happy with how his career ended, but wouldn't just one match against the "Phenomenal One" be a great way to put an exclamation point on it?

In his prime, Michaels will always be considered one of the true legends, but he really was great from start to finish. AJ Styles has only been in WWE for a short amount of time, but there is no denying the amazing career he has had around the world.

HBK would handle the majority of the mic work in their promos even though Styles isn't bad as a talker, but he's not overly known for it. Fans wouldn't care about that, though, as they just want to get to the match that could headline any WrestleMania in any city in the world.

Making this even better would be the D-X version of Shawn Michaels going up against the current version of AJ Styles which may his best ever.

#1 Dean Ambrose vs. Brian Pillman

Loose Cannon vs. Lunatic Fringe

Some may think that Dean Ambrose vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin would be a great feud/match, which it would, but can you imagine the "Loose Cannon" vs. the "Lunatic Fringe"?

To be perfectly honest, their characters are two of the most similar that anyone could imagine. If Dean Ambrose was in WWF/WWE during the Attitude Era, he would take his persona the extra step or extra mile to go over the edge and take things too far. That is exactly what Brian Pillman was allowed to do with the freedom that his era provided him.

Ambrose is right there on the verge of losing it at times, but the PG era forces him to be more humorous and not as dangerous. Given more wiggle room, it would not be out of the question to see Dean pull a gun on someone, like Pillman did on Austin back in 1996.

It's difficult to think of a match that could bring about a more entertaining build-up or match than Pillman vs. Ambrose.
