5 possible directions for Brock Lesnar this summer

What's next for Brock?
What's next for Brock?

There's no disguising the fact that Brock Lesnar is one of the focal points of professional wrestling right now, mainly because of the criticisms that have been thrown his way. The part-time champion's reputation has seriously suffered from his inconsistent appearances over the last twelve months, and now, it feels like his Universal Championship reign could well be in jeopardy.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

A lot of fans are going to be happy about that, especially after he broke CM Punk's record for the longest world title reign of the modern era in WWE. Still, there are some positives about him as a performer that you could list, although we'd be interested to see what the outcome of a public vote would be regarding his popularity among fans.

With that being said, here are five possible directions for Brock Lesnar this summer.

#5 Lose to Reigns

Could it happen?
Could it happen?

Look, we don't like the idea of this entry coming to fruition any more than you guys do, but we've just got to accept it as a realistic possibility. Roman Reigns still feels like someone who has unfinished business with The Beast Incarnate, and the only reason for that is the ambiguous ending to his match against Lesnar at Greatest Royal Rumble back in April.

We can definitely see a scenario in which Roman overcomes a series of midcarders before being promoted back up to the main event scene, where he'll take the Universal title from Lesnar at SummerSlam. Again, this isn't something we're at all interested in seeing, but we all need to start opening our minds to the idea of it happening in the next few months.

#4 Retirement

Bye bye Brock?

Brock?

While some people would argue that Brock Lesnar is lying when it comes to his stance on hating all other living things, we tend to believe it. After all, he's a very private guy most of the time, and he seems to enjoy keeping himself to himself for the most part. Because of that, the idea of him retiring from all forms of competition and combat this year seems possible.

The guy is in his early 40s now and has more money than he could spend in ten lifetimes. There's no reason for him to try and further his legacy because his story has already been written in more ways than one. If Brock decided tomorrow that he wanted to go and live on his farm with his wife and kids for the rest of his days, then we'd be completely fine with that.

#3 UFC Return

The octagon beckons

Brock Lesnar's competitive itch won't allow him to finish off his MMA journey with the UFC 200 controversy, and that much is a given. The rumours regarding his return to the promotion have been ongoing ever since his hand was raised against Mark Hunt in Las Vegas, and with Dana White confirming that they'd be interested in re-signing him, everything is falling into place.

The heavyweight division would certainly welcome Brock back with open arms, and there's a chance that he could thrust himself into the title picture almost immediately. After all, with Stipe Miocic set to defend his championship against Daniel Cormier one month before Brock's WWE contract apparently expires, the pieces fit together perfectly.

#2 Lose to Strowman

Braun smash
Braun smash

While we may have seen Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman going head to head on a few separate occasions in the last year or so, it still feels like there's another chapter in this story. Braun feels like he's going to be 'the guy' moving forward for WWE, and given just how incredible his run has been in the last 18 months, he deserves a chance at holding a world title.

Strowman running through Lesnar and sending him packing would make for great television, and it'd establish Braun as the most dominant force in all of professional wrestling. He could hold the title for well over a year, but in this instance, he'd actually be defending it on a regular basis.

Strowman is a worthy champion, and we'd love to see this play out in the lead-up to SummerSlam.

#1 Re-Sign With WWE

Could it be?
Could it be?

While it seems ridiculous to consider the possibility of Brock Lesnar remaining with WWE beyond his current contract, we also said the same thing in the lead up to WrestleMania 34. The stars were aligning and it felt like Roman Reigns capturing the Universal Championship was a virtual certainty, but alas, WWE swerved us all once again.

So what if they just kept this run going for another year? It'd make WrestleMania 35 feel like an even bigger event with Lesnar reaching the two-year mark in his title reign, and he could probably still compete in mixed martial arts on the side.

We aren't saying this is ideal, but it's certainly.
