5 possible match-ups for The Shield at WWE Super Show-Down

The Shield
The Shield reunited

The Shield is back, and stronger than ever. The Hounds of Justice also reunited last year amid great fanfare, but it was a short lived reunion.

Reigns' injury, followed by Ambrose's surgery, resulted in a shortened second stint for the now iconic faction. Truly one of the greatest factions to have ever graced a WWE ring, Shield has faced the best of the best during their time.

All three individuals have reached the top of the mountain in WWE, having won every title WWE has to offer. Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship along with Rollins' IC Title win means that The Hounds of Justice currently rule over the red brand.

A match-up for the trio has been announced for WWE Super Show-Down at Melbourne Cricket Ground in October, and it will be interesting to see who they face.

WWE is not short on three man groups, this means there are some interesting options for The Hounds of Justice.

#5 The Wyatt Family

Will they reunite?
Will they reunite?

Shield announced their arrival by demolishing The Monster Among Men, this will not go down well with the former Wyatt Family member. Braun Strowman can cause huge destruction on his own, but a three on one assault is too much even for The Monster.

Bray Wyatt recently lost the tag title, and with Matt Hardy teasing a production role, The Deleters of Worlds team looks to be done and dusted. Wyatt has always failed to find success without his Wyatt Family members, therefore a reunion of sorts with Strowman could do wonders for his career.

Wyatt and Strowman will look for a third member to fit the bill, and WWE bringing up someone like Lars Sullivan to join the two will be an epic move. Wyatt, Strowman, and Sullivan would make a team which could send shivers down the spine of any WWE superstar.

#4 The Undisputed Era

The Undisputed Era
The Undisputed Era vs The Shield would be a dream come true!

If there's one thing Triple H definitely likes, its factions. NXT has seen the rise of several factions recently, and The Undisputed Era is the most dominant of them all. Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O'Reilly have ruled over the NXT roster for over a year now, and could be in line for a call up soon.

Cole recently lost his title to Ricochet, and although Strong and O'Reilly hold the tag titles, they could lose it to Moustache Mountain soon. The Shield needs a good team to feud with in the coming months, and The Undisputed Era will fit the bill perfectly.

A group of cocky, smug-faced heels against the ever so loved babyfaces will make for an interesting encounter.

A one-off match at WWE Super Show-Down could be a possibility. Cole made a one-off appearance at Royal Rumble earlier this year, hence a cameo on the main roster should not be an unlikely thought.

#3 SAnitY

Sanity v Shield will not be match. It will be a war!
SAnitY vs The Shield won't be just a match, it would be a war!

Yet another product of NXT's fascination with factions, SAnitY tore the house down during their time in NXT.

The trio made their main roster debuts few months ago, but haven't received the same booking they did while in NXT. They have lost a string of matches in recent times, that does not bode well for the trio.

SAnitY is a ruthless group of scary individuals who have traumatized their opponents time and time again. Although currently on SmackDown Live, a match between these two factions could become a possibility due to the dual branded PPVs.

Since the Super Show-Down is most likely going to be a glorified House Show, and not serve any real purpose in the storylines, a one-off match between the two groups could be a possibility.

#2 The New Day

Six Immensely Talented Performers. One Amazing Match
Six immensely talented performers, one amazing match

Arguably the greatest stable in the modern era, The New Day just became five time tag team champions. As a group, The New Day has already managed to have a Hall of Fame worthy career in WWE.

The New Day vs The Shield was a dream match-up for many, it became reality during the brand war of Survivor Series 2017.

Both these stables have had a momentous run in WWE during the last six years, with The Shield being the dominant force from 2012 to 2014, and The New Day becoming the top group in 2015.

The only difference between the two teams is the success they have had in singles competitions, with all the The Shield members winning the WWE Championship, while The New Day members have never had a sniff at it.

A match-up between these two groups with added stipulations could make it a mouth-watering contest at Super Show-Down.

#1 The Club

AJ Styles and Roman Reigns face off once again?
AJ Styles and Roman Reigns face off once again?

AJ Styles and Roman Reigns arguably had the rivalry of the year in 2016. These two individuals fought for the most coveted prize in professional wrestling, the WWE Championship, and produced matches of the highest quality. Two years later, they are the top guys on their brands, and are household names as well.

AJ Styles had a short lived but much loved association with Gallows and Anderson in 2016. These trio called themselves The Club, a reincarnation of Bullet Club in WWE. Together Styles, Gallows, and Anderson did the finest work of their WWE careers so far.

A match-up of this quality could be the headliner for one of the biggest shows in WWE ever, and could produce a match for the ages.
