The Beast Incarnate vs The Big Dog

The 2018 SummerSlam is less than a week away and the match card for the PPV has been set. There are a lot of good matches at stake as every single championship will be defended at the PPV which is scheduled to take place at the Barclays centre in Brooklyn, New York.

In all likelihood, the WWE Universal championship match between the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar and the Big Dog Roman Reigns will main event and close the show. This is one of the most anticipated matches as the WWE Universe, in spite of all the hate on Roman, want him to take the belt of Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar and Reigns have already faced each other on four occasions and the former has come out victorious on two occasions (WrestleMania 34 and Greatest Royal Rumble 2018) while Seth Rollins cashed in his Money In The Bank contract at WrestleMania 31 and went away with the WWE championship the other instance.

Roman is likely to win the match and become the new Universal champion. But, there are a lot of other superstars on the roster who deserve the title more than him. Let us take a look at five superstars who deserve the WWE Universal championship more than Roman Reigns.

#5 Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre

Ever since he was released from WWE in 2014, Drew McIntyre proved himself in the Independent circuit where he became a matured wrestler as he improved both his in-ring and mic skills. He earned a recall from WWE and was re-signed by the promotion's developmental territory NXT.

In NXT, McIntyre impressed everyone before winning the NXT championship by beating Bobby Roode. Unfortunately, he injured his biceps and had to drop the title to Andrade Cien Almas. McIntyre recovered and made his return to the main roster where he is on Monday Night Raw along with Dolph Ziggler.

The ongoing feud between Dolph Ziggler/Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins is a proof that Drew has well and truly arrived at the big stage and it is just a matter of time before he wins the World Championship.

#4 Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman has been one of the most over Superstars at the moment as the 'Monster Among Men' has gained everyone's attention with his performances of late. His feud against Roman Reigns was a big turning point in his career as it elevated both the Superstars.

Braun is currently holding the Money In The Bank briefcase and many expect him to cash in on Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. But, a monster like Braun doesn't need a briefcase to look strong and by now, he should have held the WWE Universal championship at least once.

But, all he got was the Raw tag team championships which he won at WrestleMania 34. Braun has the charisma to be over with the fans and the WWE should book him in the right direction and hand him the title before he becomes stale.

#3 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens was the longest reigning Universal Champion until Brock Lesnar overtook his reign as the champion. Owens won the championship after Finn Balor vacated it a day after winning it at 2016 SummerSlam.

Owens lost it to Goldberg at WWE Fastlane before the WWE Hall of Famer dropped it to Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. Since then, Owens didn't get his rematch clause as he was drafted to Smackdown Live where he won the US championship and was drafted back to Raw where he is currently feuding with Braun Strowman.

Before Reigns take on Lesnar, Owens will go one-on-one against Braun and the winner will win the Money In The Bank briefcase. It won't be a bad booking if Owens wins it and goes on to become a champion as he is too good to be away from the main event scene.

#2 Finn Balor

Finn Balor

Finn Balor was the first man to win the Universal championship as he beat Seth Rollins for the title at 2016 SummerSlam. Unfortunately, he had to vacate his title after injuring his shoulder, an injury that saw him out of action for over nine months.

Ever since he came back, Balor did not get his rematch clause and he has been a part of a few pointless feuds. Currently, he is in the middle of a feud with constable Corbin and the WWE should not have someone like Balor jobbing in the mid-card for a long time. Sooner than later, the co-founder of the Bullet Club should become a two-time Universal Champion.

#1 Seth Rollins

Seth "Freaking" Rollins

Without a doubt, Seth Rollins is easily the best wrestler, both in terms of wrestling skills and mic skills, on Monday Night Raw. Adding to this, he is also the most over Superstar on the roster as the fans love him a lot.

He has been feuding with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre for the Intercontinental title and has been setting the stage on fire ever since his feud with Triple H last year. Rollins is a two-time WWE champion and a Grand Slam champion but the Architect has never won the Universal championship and it is something he should have been having around his waist by now.
