5 Superstars Who Need to Turn Heel Fast

Maybe a heel turn will breathe new life into their characters
Maybe a heel turn will breathe new life into them

It is no secret that WWE is no longer the brand we grew up watching and loving as kids. The same company that has created so many immortal characters over the years now struggles to get superstars over with fans. The central issue lies with miscasting some of their central characters. Little wonder then, that the crowd has trouble identifying with these WWE superstars.

The problem is easily solved with a heel turn. In a world that is made up of good and bad guys, maybe a white meat babyface needs to show a mean streak, to get over with the WWE Universe. Maybe a nasty side of one's character is more similar to the actual performer than the character he/she is portraying on screen, at the moment.

In this article, I shall suggest 5 superstars who can benefit immensely through a heel turn. Chime in with your own comments in the section below.

If you think our picks are doing fine as babyfaces, let us know so!

#5 Roman Reigns

Naming Roman Reigns over and over again, is a futile effort
Naming Roman Reigns over and over again is a futile effort

Of course, Roman Reigns is the superstar who needs a heel turn the most among the names mentioned here. Why is he at the Number 5 spot in this list then, you rightfully ask? The answer is simple: WWE has shown us time and time again, that they will not turn him heel, despite the wishes of the WWE Universe.

WWE had a chance to turn him heel when he defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. Reigns is organically greeted with a chorus of boos every single week, and this does not allow the WWE Universe to get invested in his programs, where he is playing the good guy. It just seems like a force fit, a piece of the puzzle that WWE is constantly pushing in place.

Perhaps one day, WWE will relent and actually turn him into a bad guy. One wonders though if it will be too late by then.

#4 Charlotte Flair

Remember how Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks redefined women's wrestling on RAW?
Remember how heel Charlotte Flair and babyface Sasha Banks redefined women's wrestling on RAW?

Charlotte Flair is just a natural heel and somehow has not transitioned into a babyface role very well. She was so much better when she was on RAW, making history for the women's division with numerous outstanding matches against Sasha Banks. Ever since she made her way to SmackDown Live as a babyface, she's been a shadow of that character.

WWE has a chance to strike gold by booking a feud between a heel Charlotte Flair and a babyface Becky Lynch. Maybe these two women can recreate the chemistry that Flair and Banks once had. Moreover, a heel Charlotte Flair can also get a babyface Becky Lynch over.

We may be headed in this direction based on the events on SmackDown Live. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

#3 John Cena

This heel time has been a long time coming

To many, John Cena represents everything that is wrong with the product in today's day and age. Cena has been the face of family-friendly WWE, and there has not been a shift in his character for many years. We all know how Hulk Hogan was in a similar spot, and how much he benefitted from his heel turn, effectively forming the nWo. Cena could do something similar if WWE allowed him.

Based on his acting chops, I daresay that Cena would make a pretty fantastic heel!

#2 Sasha Banks

Banks could benefit greatly from a turn

Sasha Banks always seems like she would fare better as a heel than as a babyface. This can be traced all the way to NXT when she put on the match of the year with Bayley. During that feud, Banks was the heel and Bayley, the extremely lovable babyface.

On the main roster, Banks has been booked in a program with Bayley that has gone nowhere, really. Because she is not a heel, she has to play by the rules and is only a shadow of the performer she can be. Which is a shame considering how talented she is.

#1 Bobby Roode

History has proved that Bobby Roode is a better heel than a babyface. One only needs to go back to NXT to recall just how good he was as a bad guy. Ever since he got called up and was made into a babyface, he has just struggled to get over with fans. Even putting the US title on him did not help matters.

And now, he is stuck in a nothing feud with Mojo Rawley on RAW. Neither man has benefitted from the program. It doesn't seem like either man will.

Maybe a double turn is in order. Roode could go back to being the sadistic heel we knew in NXT while Rawley could become a Hype Bro for another run.
