5 Things WWE Could Do With Paul Heyman

What's
What's next?

It is a pretty well-known fact now that Brock Lesnar will be leaving WWE next month and returning to the UFC in early 2019. While Brock's future has been determined, many are wondering what will become of The Beast's advocate, Paul Heyman?

Paul has had a very rocky relationship with WWE over the years. As a part of the writing and booking team, Paul frequently clashed with Vince and Stephanie McMahon, which would ultimately lead to a very ugly exit from the company in 2007, following the events of the despised December To Dismember pay-per-view in 2006. He returned to WWE in 2012 as strictly an on-camera only talent, once again managing Brock Lesnar, as well as other superstars from time to time.

Paul Heyman's on-camera work for WWE over the last six years has been generally praised and he seems to have a far better working relationship with the McMahon family. So the big question is, do WWE want to keep Paul Heyman around, without Brock Lesnar?

I honestly really hope they do. So if WWE want to keep, here are what I think are the top five best options they have with Paul Heyman still working for WWE.

#5 Returning To The WWE Writing Team

Made Smackdown better than RAW
Made Smackdown better than RAW

When Paul Heyman joined WWE following the closure of ECW in 2001, he not only graced us with his on-air presence as an announcer, but as a writer to.

Paul had an on and off writing career for WWE during his first run. He was frequently thrown off the writing team for clashing with Vince and Stephanie McMahon, but always returned eventually. He wrote for WWE in 2001 and 2002, WWE Smackdown in 2002 and 2003 following the brand split, OVW from 2005 - 2006 and for WWE ECW in 2006.

Paul's most notably best work as a writer for WWE came when he was doing it for Smackdown, for segments, feuds and matches involving Brock Lesnar, the Big Show, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Edge, Rey Mysterio and Chavo and Eddie Guerrero in late 2002 - early 2003.

Their have been some rumors making the rounds in recent weeks that Paul Heyman has been doing a little writing for WWE RAW lately, as well as some production work. More specifically, he was apparently working with Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley during their feud.

Whether that is true or not, we may never know, but what we do know is WWE RAW and/or Smackdown would be a far more interesting show to watch if Paul Heyman was involved in the writing squad.

#4 Working With NXT

W
Would work wonders with the young guys

As mentioned, after he was finished as an on-air talent for the time being and as a creative writer for WWE Smackdown, Paul Heyman became the head booker and writer for WWE's developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling.

During his time with OVW, Paul oversaw talent development for such superstars as Beth Phoenix, Mr. Kennedy and of course, CM Punk. Today, WWE has an even more talented crop of future superstars in NXT, and I can only imagine how much they would all benefit from Paul's teachings, just as these Punk, Kennedy, Phoenix and several others did.

#3 WWE TV Authority Figure

Was one o
Was one of the best General Managers ever

Paul Heyman managed several superstars on WWE TV from 2002 - 2003, including the Big Show, Kurt Angle, Charlie Hass and Shelton Benjamin, and of course, Brock Lesnar.

Paul was written off TV from March 2003 until the following October, and when he returned, he did so not as a manager, but as Stephanie McMahon's replacement as the new General Manager of Smackdown. Surprisingly, this didn't last long at just about 5 months, and returned to his former manager role. It was short, but very fun.

Paul Heyman returned to WWE TV after more than a year of absence in 2006, this time as the new General Manager for the brand. Again, it was short at 6 months this time, until his legitimate release from WWE, and again, short but very fun.

So now two times over, Paul has proven he can be a fantastic authority figure role for WWE on TV. Now as we speak, WWE has several authority figures on TV, with Commissionaires for RAW and Smackdown and General Managers also.

As both Stephanie and Shane McMahon's roles on TV have been very limited since WrestleMania, I don't think it would hurt to replace one of them (Stephanie) with Paul as he would be a far more entertaining figure in that role. And if not, maybe Kurt Angle could use a 50/50 co-General Manager to spice things up, maybe Paige could either.

#2 A New Paul Heyman Guy

H
Has managed breakthrough stars

He was the owner of ECW, a creative genius and an entertaining commentator and General Manager, but at the end of the day, most fans will probably best remember Paul Heyman as the advocate for Brock Lesnar, and other managing stints with CM Punk, the Big Show and many more.

Paul Heyman is so good in this role that he appeared on WWE TV on RAW pretty much every week in 2013 and 2014, managing not just Brock Lesnar, but CM Punk, Cutis Axel, Cesaro and Ryback to. The three latter of these following Punk may not have left a big mark on their careers, but Paul was always damn entertaining with them.

Today's WWE roster is huge and has so many talents that would easily benefit from being able to work with Paul Heyman, not just from a creative standpoint, but the majority of the time, whoever is lead by Paul Heyman on TV, has a great run at the top. More Paul Heyman Guy's are what many fans have been clamoring for, for years now and that is what we should get.

#1 A Paul Heyman Girl

This w
This would be awesome and is long overdue

Paul Heyman is one of the greatest managers in history of professional wrestling, but even today, over 21 years after his managerial debut and is the midst of the women's revolution, he has still yet to manage a woman, a Paul Heyman Girl.

It is something that he has said over and over again that he is certainly open to doing. So now that it looks like he will be on his own without Brock Lesnar (and hopefully still with WWE), it is now the perfect time for the first ever Paul Heyman Girl.

Their are certainly several great options in WWE right now for the first one to. Last year Paul said he would love Charlotte Flair to be one, as well as known Paul Heyman fan, Ronda Rousey. And many fans, myself included, think the former undefeated Empress Asuka would do wonders being paired with Heyman.

If not Ronda Rousey, Charlotte or Asuka, then another perfect candidate, and best option in my opinion, is the reigning NXT Women's Champion Shayna Bazler, who (along with the Four Horsewomen) has referred to herself as a Paul Heyman Girl in the past.

Brock Lesnar looks to be on his way out of WWE, and even if he wasn't, 2018 seems like the perfect time for a new Paul Heyman Guy and the first Paul Heyman Girl.
