WWE has its four mega shows - Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series each year, and currently SummerSlam is just a few days away. SummerSlam will be coming to the WWE Network on Sunday, August 19.
For the fourth year in a row, WWE's premier summer event will be taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Many of WWE's titles will be on the line for the major event, including a deja vu moment where Roman Reigns will take on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
WWE SummerSlam 2018 is just a few days away, here we discuss some unexpected things that might happen at the event.
#5 Dean Ambrose
Dean Ambrose is one of the most entertaining superstars of this generation, he is currently out due to injury, and is expected to return very soon. At SummerSlam 2018, we are going to have some of the most interesting matches scheduled for this year, so this may be the best time for The Lunatic Fringe to return.
Dean Ambrose's former Shield brother, Seth Rollins is set to battle against Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2018. We can easily expect Dean Ambrose to interfere in that match in some form.
Fans really love superstars like Dean Ambrose, he is pretty great in the ring as well as in promos. His backstage promos are always filled with lunatic and funny moments. It would be certainly interesting to witness Dean Ambrose's return at SummerSlam 2018.
#4 Hulk Hogan returns
Everyone has probably heard about Hulk Hogan due to his amazing work in the WWE as well as outside the wrestling industry. Hulk Hogan is one of the major names who made pro wrestling as popular as it is today. His work in the WWE is more than just admirable.
However, Hulk Hogan was suspended by the WWE in 2015 due to some racism issues, but now he has successfully completed his suspension period, and he has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame.
There have been rumors of him being in talks with the WWE, and his return is likely possible now. SummerSlam 2018 is a very good chance for his WWE return.
He is an absolute legend in wrestling, and his return will surely fascinate the fans. His return will make SummerSlam even more interesting.
#3 Carmella retains her title
Carmella is the current WWE SmackDown's Women's Champion, and is disliked by the fans. She is set to defend her title in a triple threat match against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch at SummerSlam 2018. Both Becky and Charlotte are great wrestlers, so we can surely expect either one of them to emerge as the new champion.
Carmella has always won her matches via some kind of cheating, or by the the interference of James Ellsworth. James Ellsworth has been fired by the SmackDown LIVE General Manager - Paige.
This reduces the chance of Carmella retaining the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam. However, there are no disqualifications in a triple threat match, so Carmella could use some other unfair method to win the match.
The All Women's PPV: Evolution is arriving fast, so no one wants Carmella to represent SmackDown LIVE as the current champion on the Pay Per View. Everyone wants a change, but it may not come at SummerSlam 2018.
#2 Roman Reigns loses again
The WWE Universal Championship is on the line at SummerSlam 2018 in a singles match, where Brock Lesnar is set to defend his title against Roman Reigns.
For those unaware, Roman Reigns has already faced Brock Lesnar in the main events of 2 different WrestleManias, but Roman was unsuccessful in defeating The Beast Incarnate on both occasions.
Roman Reigns also got a chance to capture the Universal Title from Brock Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble Event back in April, but the match ended controversially, and Roman Reigns didn't win once again.
At SummerSlam 2018, Roman Reigns has got another chance, but Brock Lesnar has an equal chance to retain his title. WWE fans want this storyline to end with Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship, but this might not happen at SummerSlam 2018.
#1 Kevin Owens walks out as the Universal Champion
When it comes to the Universal Championship match At SummerSlam, there can be numerous outcomes. Roman Reigns can win, Brock Lesnar can win, Braun Strowman can cash in, but this outcome is the most unexpected outcome.
Kevin Owens has a match against Braun Strowman - in it Braun's Money in the Bank contract is on the line. We all expect Braun Strowman to win that match, but if Kevin Owens somehow achieves the victory, he might cash in the same night.
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will go to their extreme limits against each other. Both of them will be heavily exhausted, so this will be the best chance for a Money in the Bank cash in.
We all can expect Braun Strowman to cash in if he's successful in defending his contract, as he already told us that he'll cash in as soon as Brock Lesnar shows up. However, things might get a little more interesting when Kevin Owens cashes the contract instead of Braun Strowman.
Braun Strowman has been irritating and hurting Kevin Owens for no reason, since the Money in the Bank PPV. Winning the Universal Championship by using Braun Strowman's contract will be the best revenge for Kevin Owens.
