5 Ways The Shield Could Break Up This Time

How will the current run of the Hounds finally conclude?
How will the current run of the Hounds finally conclude?

The wrestling world is supremely excited following the Shield reunion. Yet, we all know that all good things must come to an end someday. The last time, the world was aghast when Seth Rollins took a chair and turned on his brothers. How will The Shield meet its end, this time around?

I will list 5 scenarios in this article. I invite you folks to do the same in the comments section. We all know that even though we don't see it coming yet, it's only a brief matter of time before this group comes to a rather bitter end.

Do not worry yet, folks. I have a feeling that The Shield will have a long and prosperous run, before they all go their separate ways.

And yet, during this run, cracks may start developing again.

#5 Seth Rollins sides with The Authority again

Hey, The Universal Champion needs credible heel opponents to face off against
Hey, The Universal Champion needs credible heel opponents to face off against, down the line

I know that a lot of you think that this will not happen again. After all, we have already seen this take place the last time around, so what's the point of history repeating itself yet again? For me to justify this point, just remember that everything serves a larger storyline; in this case...the future of the Universal Championship.

Roman Reigns can only take on Braun Strowman so many times for the title, in coming months. There will come a point where he needs fresh opponents to work against, and we all know how good Seth Rollins can be as a heel. Therefore, we may see a repeat of the classic storyline, culminating with Rollins hitting his Shield brethren with the dreaded steel chair.

I see this as the only way to elevate Rollins from the Intercontinental Championship level to the Universal title level. Plus, it could lead to an exciting Ambrose vs. Rollins rivalry once again.

#4 Dean Ambrose goes heel, turns on his stable

The WWE Universe may be thrilled to see this happen!
Remember, Ambrose has not really played a heel thus far

Yes, Dean Ambrose was a heel during his first run with The Shield. But since then, the crowd has become very invested in his character and he has remained a top babyface in the division. With his scary new look and ripped physique, it is possible that Ambrose could be on his way to a heel run.

Maybe after a few months, Dean Ambrose decides that it's time for him to go his own way, at long last. Unlike the two other members of The Shield, he does not hold any gold right now. In fact, unless he shifts to SmackDown Live, there is no solo title for him to chase, at this point in time.

Therefore, he could break up The Shield, thereby going heel. Following this, he could either go for the Universal or the Intercontinental Championship.

#3 Roman Reigns aligns with Paul Heyman, Shield splits up

Could we finally see the dreaded alliance that was teased?
Could we finally see the dreaded alliance that was teased?

With Ambrose and Rollins, WWE has two top babyfaces they can build their programming around. This could allow them to pull off the heel turn that has been discussed for many a year. Roman Reigns could finally plunge into his dark side and align himself with the devil's advocate. Heyman has nobody to manage, ever since Brock Lesnar went to the UFC.

This would obviously lead to The Shield breaking up! But from it could emerge many interesting storylines.

#2 A real life injury

Nobody wants this to happen, but this is a possibility
Nobody wants this to happen, but this is always a possibility in WWE

The amount of punishment that the men and women of WWE put themselves through is impossible to imagine. They're always at risk of injury because of the nature of their business. Entertaining millions around the world is not a very easy task.

While the last run of The Shield was picking up momentum, it had to be stalled because Dean Ambrose got injured. And that brought The Shield reunion to a halt. Let's cross our fingers and hope that does not happen this time.

It would be interesting if the other two members brought someone else on board in such a case to complete the trio. Things would get interesting upon the return of the original, injured Shield member then.

#1 One of the members is drafted to SmackDown Live

Could we finally see the AJ vs Rollins match?
Could we finally see the AJ vs Rollins match?

We all know that SmackDown Live will be moving to a new network soon. And WWE may need to spice up the brand with top superstars to keep viewers invested. There are no bigger superstars in the company than Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose, right now. WWE may want one or more of them to travel to SmackDown Live.

This would lead to the unfortunate dissolution of The Shield. But it could lead to some interesting new plots. As will each of these five possibilities.

List some possibilities of your own in the comments. What do you think is next for The Shield?

Which of the three do you think will be the betrayer on this particular occasion?
