There were many rumours circulating about Bobby Lashley's WWE return around WrestleMania 34. Everyone expected him to come in all guns blazing and set the world on fire. Truth be told, Lashley's return has been rather underwhelming, thus far. To be honest, he hasn't seemed like a worthy contender for Brock Lesnar thus far.

In this article, I shall suggest 5 ways to rebuild him to main event status. Anyone who's watched him in Impact Wrestling knows just how gifted he can be inside the squared circle. If booked in a worthy storyline, Lashley can be quite a beast.

Leave a comment and let me know if you believe Lashley may be salvaged in due course of time to become a main event player. Can even the best booking not save him?

This is how I would personally book him in a dominant position!

#5 Align him with Paul Heyman

Could Bobby Lashley become the next Paul Heyman guy?

There are far too many parallels between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. Both men have an extensive combat sports background that they've successfully transitioned into a wrestling career. Neither man is really very competent on the mic. Which brings us to the biggest difference between the two men- Paul Heyman.

Since his return, we've seen Bobby Lashley struggling on the microphone every time he has to make a point or cut a promo. If he were to be aligned with Paul Heyman, this problem could disappear in an instant, because Heyman is the Cicero of wrestling promos. It would also lead to a genuinely intriguing storyline between the two men, leading into a full-fledged feud.

Paul Heyman has been aligned with several legendary superstars in the past who've all gone on to do great things in sports entertainment. Bobby Lashley could be the latest member of that club.

#4 Clean victory over Roman Reigns

Any victory over Reigns is a really big deal
Any victory over Reigns is a really big deal

Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley are certainly on the warpath right now. Both men are driven by only one objective- to become the next Universal Champion. It is clear that these two men are destined to clash down the line, maybe as soon as Extreme Rules next month. What better way to book Lashley's ascent by making him win clean?

Like him or not, Roman Reigns is currently the biggest star in the WWE roster. Any win over him is a meaningful and substantial affair. Having Lashley beat Reigns on pay-per-view will certainly help him ascend a rung and rise to the very next level.

Like Lashley said in his promo on RAW, people are tired of seeing Reigns and Lesnar face one another time after time. Lashley vs. Lesnar will be an interesting contest because of their highly similar backgrounds.

#3 SummerSlam feud with John Cena

John Cena can make or break a superstar

It was only after he defeated John Cena that Kevin Owens was considered to be an elite level superstar. It was only after he was in a feud with Cena that Styles was elevated to main event status. So many superstars can say the same. John Cena is the ultimate litmus test for a WWE superstar.

Were Lashley to be booked in a program with Cena, it would just make him seem like a much bigger star than he is right now.

#2 Ending Brock Lesnar's streak

People have wanted this match for years now

Brock Lesnar ended the most famous streak in WWE history. It seems only fair that Lashley should be the one to break his streak. Brock Lesnar is the longest reigning champion of the modern era. He has surpassed the 434 day record made famous by CM Punk, another Heyman guy!

Some of you may argue that Lashley doesn't seem ready to be a Universal Champion. Lashley only needs to pin Lesnar, and then Strowman could cash in. It will still establish Lashley as a competitor to be feared in WWE.

Nobody has been able to pin Lesnar since Goldberg did. Lashley could be seen as a superstar if he managed to achieve this incredible feat.

Honorable mention: Moving to SmackDown Live

Lashley could start afresh on SmackDown Live, of course. It would be a fresh beginning after the mess that was the Sami Zayn storyline. AJ Styles does not have a strong heel to work with, after Nakamura. Lashley could turn and fill the void (sorry, Rusev does not quite measure up).

Of course, he doesn't need to. He could just do one of the four suggestions outlined in the pages prior and the one on the next page.

#1 Turning Lashley heel

Lashley could be a much better heel than a babyface!
Lashley could be a much better heel than a babyface!

Unlike Daniel Bryan or AJ Styles, people don't immediately gravitate towards Bobby Lashley. He has done some of his best work in Impact Wrestling in a heel avatar. Somehow, a smiling Lashley does not really seem very intimidating. Could a heel turn be in the works for Lashley?

If so, it'll be a reboot in his character and may shake things up for him. We saw how interesting Sami Zayn became after his heel turn. That is if you ignore his feud with Lashley.

These were just some suggestions from my end, folks. What do you folks think?
