5 WWE Superstars on the current roster who would benefit from a run in NXT

2018 Winter TCA Tour - Day 6
The Game has expressed interest in the idea of sending main roster talent to NXT

In a recent conference call before NXT Takover: Chicago this weekend Triple H among other talking points expressed interest in the idea of sending main roster talent who are struggling down to have a run in NXT. This has worked well in the past for superstars such as Cesaro and Tyson Kidd.

NXT may not even be as big a step back as it might have seemed a few years ago, with the Black and Yellow Brand growing more each year and it's Takeover specials consistently receiving higher praise from fans than main roster pay-per-views, NXT might be the better place to be. So in this list, we look at WWE Superstars whose careers would benefit from a trip down to Full Sail.

#1 The Revival

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have been wasted on Raw

The former two-time NXT Tag Team Champions (the only team to hold the titles twice) have failed to make much of an impact since being called up to the main roster on the Raw after 'Mania last year.

But they aren't really to blame since the WWE don't seem to have any intention of putting the Top Guys anywhere near the Raw tag-team titles anytime soon. Given how weak the tag division on Raw currently is it puzzles the mind as to why they are doing nothing with the most talented team on the roster.

The Revival on NXT were able to showcase their talent, consistently having great matches with teams such as American Alpha, Authors of Pain and D.I.Y.

The pair won both Tag Team of the Year and Match of the Year (vs D.I.Y at Takeover: Toronto) in the 2016 NXT Year-End Awards.

It's clear to see that The Revival was loved by fans on NXT given the massive pop they received on their Raw debut, if a return to NXT means we get to see the Revival of old again then I am all for it.

Dawson and Wilder have been appearing on some NXT live events recently but maybe a full-time return to the Black and Yellow Brand will be the best thing to help these Top Guys out.

#2 Tyler Breeze

Prince Pretty was a fan favorite on NXT

Tyler Breeze was in NXT for a long time even going back to the FCW days (where he once held the tag-team titles with Roman Reigns), but on NXT he was a truly entertaining and over heel.

While he didn't win many big matches (one win in six Takeover appearances) Breeze was still one of the brands top stars and was even chosen to face the legendary Jushin "Thunder" Liger in his first and only match in WWE at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. There were even Shawn Michaels comparisons being thrown around.

Then almost immediately after getting his main roster call up in 2015, Prince Pretty was being jobbed out left and right, not getting the time on the mic where he had really shined in NXT, Breeze quickly found himself at the bottom of the card.

Currently a part Breezango with his tag-team partner Fandango who were recently moved in the Superstar Shake-Up to Raw from Smackdown where they were able to find a brief period of success.

The Fashion Police did manage to get over and turning face in April last year it actually looked like they might win the Smackdown Tag-Team Championships, but failed in their two attempts to dethrone The Usos.

Are
Are Breezango's days numbered?

Since then Breezango have slowly fizzled away and it remains to be seen how long this team have left together but it seems like the could be coming towards the end of their run and splitting up might be the best thing for them.

For Breeze to go back to his former home at Full Sail could rejuvenate his character, and winning that NXT Championship I always wanted to see him hold in his first NXT run could make him a more serious contender on the main roster in the future.

#3 Chad Gable

<p>
Gable was the star out of the former NXT Tag-Team champs

Big things were expected from American Alpha when they got called up to the main roster in 2016 as part of the WWE Draft getting selected by Smackdown and they went on to win the Smackdown Tag-Team Championships soon after.

Their reign lasted under four months after losing the titles to The Usos and never won them again. The Alpha has since broken up after Jason Jordan left to go be Kurt Angle's son (why?) and WWE doesn't seem to know what to do with the former Olympian.

The highlights of Gable's solo Smackdown run were losing in great matches to the likes of AJ Styles and Kevin Owens.

Since moving to Raw in the latest Shake-Up he managed to get a victory over Jinder Mahal only to lose to him the following week.

This is disappointing as to me Gable was the star in American Alpha but it seems WWE has bigger plans for Jordan.

I feel Gable could be a real star if given the opportunity to shine, he has Angle-esque qualities (which is why it's strange to me that he isn't in Jordan's role right now) excellent in-ring abilities and good on the mic Gable surpasses his former partner in all categories.

This is where a run in NXT could help out Gable's career, I feel a run as NXT North American champion would be perfect for the Olympic wrestler. We already know he can put on great matches and the thought of him being able to do that on a big stage against the likes of Adam Cole, Ricochet and Velveteen Dream would excite me.

#4 The Ascension

Konnor and Viktor have fallen a long way since their NXT glory days

It's easy to forget that The Ascension holds the record for the longest reign as NXT Tag-Team champions, holding the titles for almost a year. I feel as though out of everyone featured in this list it is The Ascension that may need this the most as I could see them getting released soon.

Konnor and Viktor have been a joke ever since debuting on the main roster in December 2014, it's hard to remember any significant victories the pair have had in those three and a half years.

Failing to achieve anything memorable on their time on Smackdown apart from a few backstage skits with Breezango it doesn't look likely they will be able to turn their careers around on Raw after their recent switch.

Returning back to their old Full Sail stomping ground could provide a saving grace for The Ascension if it were to happen and we could maybe see the more serious side of the team once again and possibly relive their NXT glory days.

#5 Tye Dillinger

Still the Perfect 10?

Similarly to Breeze, Tye Dillinger was a part of NXT for a long time before getting his call up to Smackdown in April 2017 and hasn't been able to do anything worthy of note since then.

The Perfect 10 was a fan favorite at Full Sail with his 10 chants even spreading over to main roster shows and entered to a massive ovation when he came out at the number 10 spot during the 2017 Royal Rumble match.

Dillinger is another superstar who WWE don't currently seem to see as championship material and have let his popularity slowly start to fade.

Dillinger was never really near the title picture when he was in NXT either, despite how over he was with fans he wasn't really at the level of other superstars who were there at the time such as Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura.

But back then there was no North American Championship, the NXT mid-card title would have been the perfect spot for the Perfect 10 had it been available to him at the time. Maybe that spot would be what's best for Dillinger now, going back to the place where he was loved by fans and now with a more achievable goal he could get his mojo back.
