7 WWE Superstars and Teams that should have appeared at Hell in a Cell

After weeks of build-up, we finally got to see WWE Hell in a Cell last night. Although many believe that the ending wasn’t satisfactory and the match should have ended with one Superstar victorious, you can’t deny that some of the matches were really well executed.

SmackDown Live’s matches were really impressive. We got to see a crazy Jeff Hardy spot as we expected, we got a controversial finish to the AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe match and we finally got to see Becky Lynch win the big one.

Raw’s Tag Team match was pretty insane too. All four Competitors performed excellently. It looks like Drew McIntyre will be having a successful 2019. Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to WWE too and it looks like we will see him back in the title picture soon. Overall, this was a decent Pay-per-view and exceeded expectations, as the expectations were pretty low with Hell in a Cell.

One thing however, that negatively affected the PPV was the absence of some talented Superstars. Many insanely talented Superstars didn’t appear at the PPV and they should have been used in some capacity.

Here are 7 Superstars and Teams which should have appeared at Hell in a Cell last night.

#7 Elias

Although Elias is not an amazing athlete, he is quite entertaining. Elias has been a part of many PPV’s this year. He has wrestled on a few of them too. Mainly, Elias’ PPV roles involve him singing for a while before getting interrupted by someone.

Elias was also a part of the first-ever 7-man Elimination Chamber match earlier this year. He then feuded with Seth Rollins for a while in June. The feud culminated in a match for the Intercontinental title, which Elias lost.

When you have a 4-hour Pay-per-view with a one-hour pre-show, the crowd will likely get tired at some point during the show. Having a segment featuring Elias at that point could help in waking up and hyping the crowd and also serve as a break from the in-ring action. Elias knows how to play with the crowd. His segments always receive reactions from the WWE Universe. At least we will get to see him on Raw tonight.

#6 The Bar

Sheamus and Cesaro were being utilized properly on Raw. Moving to SmackDown Live hasn’t done them any favors yet. Ever since moving to the Blue brand, The Bar hasn’t made a pay-per-view appearance. It’s high time for the Creative to realize that The Bar is too good to kept on the sidelines during pay-per-views. Their matches against The Hardy Boyz and Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins were some of the best matches of last year.

Last week on SmackDown Live, The Bar failed to earn an opportunity to face The New Day at Hell in a Cell. Earlier this year, they also failed to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match and earn a SummerSlam match against The Bludgeon Brothers.

The Bar is scheduled to face The New Day at WWE Super Show-down next month. Let’s hope that they win the titles and become a major part of SmackDown Live after that.

#5 Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley returned to WWE after nearly 10 years, earlier this year. The hype surrounding his return was real. Many dream matches and feuds featuring Lashley were being discussed by the fans. However, it looked like the Creative didn’t have anything special planned for him.

Ever since returning to WWE, Lashley has feuded with Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns.

Bobby Lashley was brutally attacked 2 weeks ago by Kevin Owens. Last week, Lashley appeared only in a backstage segment. Lashley ended up missing the Hell in a Cell PPV last night too. Now that Brock Lesnar is back, maybe we can finally see the dream match pitting the two Beasts against each other. As of now, Lashley is supposed to continue his feud with Kevin Owens.

#4 Shinsuke Nakamura

Nothing hurts more than seeing a Champion not be a part of a Pay-per-view. Last year at Hell in a Cell, Nakamura competed for the WWE title. This year, he wasn’t even a part of the show. Nakamura, the current US Champion, announced a few weeks ago that he wouldn’t be competing and defending his US title unless he finds a worthy opponent.

Nakamura’s absence would be justified if something big is being planned, both for him and the US title. There are rumors that Nakamura would be challenged by a returning Rey Mysterio.

It looks like we would just have to wait and see where the Nakamura story-line leads us to. Nakamura isn’t advertised to defend his title at WWE Super Show-down too so it looks like we might not be seeing Nakamura put the US title on the line anytime soon.

#3 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens quit WWE 3 weeks ago after he got squashed by Braun Strowman at SummerSlam and then got pinned by Seth Rollins 8 days later. This story-line had the potential to be become one of the best WWE story-lines in a long time. However, Owens returned to WWE the other week and attacked Bobby Lashley. Owens then led the heel roster in the final segment against The Shield.

Although it was a good decision by creative to not have a Lashley vs. Owens match this early into the feud, Owens should have appeared at Hell in a Cell. Owens has a 3-0 record at Hell in a Cell. Owens headlined the last 2 Hell in a Cell shows. Earlier this year, Owens was advertised to face Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell but maybe those plans were scrapped just in time.

#2 Andrade “Cien” Almas

Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega have been on fire lately. Almas has been a part of some of the best matches of SmackDown Live in the past few months. However, he hasn’t had a proper feud ever since getting called up earlier this year. Almas was a part of SummerSlam last month but he participated in the pre-show. It looks like the feud between Almas/Vega and Truth/Carmella would continue for a while.

It’s been rumored that Almas is set to receive a huge push in the near future as his work has impressed Vince McMahon. Almas should have been given a chance to compete at Hell in a Cell. It’s high time Almas finds himself involved in a meaningful feud. Almas and Vega should be booked in a match both at WWE Super Show-down and Survivor Series.

#1 Finn Balor

When Kurt Angle said during a Q&A that Finn Balor was finally ready to win a title, it seemed like that would be the start of his long overdue push. However, Balor has been further pushed down the card Post-Summerslam. Hell in a Cell would have been the perfect opportunity for Balor to lose a Loser Leaves Raw match and move to Smackdown Live.

Finn Balor is one of the most over Superstars on Raw and it was quite shocking to not see him at Hell in a Cell. He could have wrestled Corbin or any other opponent suggested by Corbin. Moreover, The “Demon” gimmick could have been used. Not using Demon Balor at a show called Hell in a Cell was quite ironic.
