Will Nakamura ever win a world title?

WWE has a stacked roster which consists of several talented wrestlers from around the world. The presence of so many superstars increases the amount of competition. Thus, several deserving Superstars fail to get an opportunity to shine.

WWE’s main roster consists of 2 World titles, one for Smackdown Live (WWE Championship) and one for Raw (Universal Championship). While there are countless individuals with infinite potential, only a handful can win these World Titles.

However, winning a World Title doesn’t define a Superstar’s talent and potential. Razor Ramon/Scott Hall was one of the best Wrestlers in the 90’s but he never won a World Title in either WWF or WCW.

Here are 8 Superstars on the current main roster who will probably never win any of the World titles in WWE. Names like Bobby Lashley and Matt Hardy won’t be included in this list as they are former ECW Champions.

#8 Luke Harper

Ente

Luke Harper made his main roster debut in 2014 as a part of the Wyatt Family. Harper’s in-ring work has always been appreciated. Throughout his career, Harper has spent most of the time as a team player.

Harper got his first break as a singles Superstar when the Wyatt Family split in 2014. Harper went on to win the Intercontinental Championship from Dolph Ziggler and even represented the Authority at Survivor Series 2014.

In 2015, Harper joined Wyatt to reform the Wyatt Family. The Wyatt Family finally disbanded in 2017 leading to Harper turning face and becoming a singles competitor once again. His 2nd run as a solo Superstar was lackluster however and he disappeared shortly after Backlash 2017.

Harper then reunited with Rowan to form the Bludgeon Brothers and together, they dominated the Smackdown Live’s Tag Team Division for the better part of 2018 before Rowan got injured.

Harper has always proved himself to be a Talented Superstar both in the ring and on the mic but it seems like a World Title run in Harper's future is highly questionable. However, if Harper continues to get booked like a monster he was this year, then it would make up for that.

#7 Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable made their main roster debuts in 2016 as a team (American Alpha). The team wasn’t as successful on the main roster as it was on NXT. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan split in the summer of 2017.

Jordan moved to Raw and was introduced as Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son. It looked like Jordan might receive a big push. However, the overwhelmingly negative reaction from the WWE Universe caused WWE creative to make him a tweener.

Jordan then started getting involved in The Shield's matches and story-lines. After Dean Ambrose suffered an injury, Jordan was paired with Seth Rollins and together, they won the Raw Tag Team Championships.

It looked like the two might not stay on good terms with each other for long and Jordan would complete his heel turn by betraying Seth soon but Jordan suffered an injury, causing those plans to be scrapped.

If Jordan returns by the end of the year, he would most likely reform the American Alpha with Chad Gable. Plans for Jordan's huge singles push might have been completely scrapped by now. An American Alpha reunion however, could be a huge boost to Raw's current Tag Team Division.

#6 Kofi Kingston

En

Kofi Kingston has been wrestling in WWE for over 10 years. Throughout his career, Kofi has won multiple Championships, including the Intercontinental Championship, US Championship and the Tag Team Championships. Kofi Kingston just needs to win any World Title now to become a Grand Slam Champion.

Kofi Kingston has been a part of some amazing matches in the last 10 years. Kofi Kingston has been a part of the New Day since 2014 and the group has won the Tag Titles on 5 different occassions. Kofi always becomes the highlight of any match that he’s involved in.

As of now, it looks like The New Day might be staying together for some time. If the group disbands however, expect Kofi to go after any of the mid-card titles. A World title run at this point of his career seems unlikely.

#5 Bobby Roode

Ente

Bobby Roode made his WWE debut in 2016 at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Roode won the NXT Championship in January, 2017 and went on to hold the title for 7 months before losing it to Drew McIntyre in August. Roode made his main roster debut on Smackdown Live in April 2017.

When Roode made his debut on Smackdown, it was clear that he was never going to be a top star like he was in NXT and Impact Wrestling. He would remain as a prominent part of the mid-card scene instead. Roode had a decent run on Smackdown Live. He even won the US Championship in 2018 and represented Team Smackdown at Survivor Series 2017. Bobby Roode was drafted to Raw after Wrestlemania 34.

Ever since coming to Raw, Roode has been pushed down the card. He hasn't been involved in any meaningful feud or match yet. A heel turn however, could do wonders for Roode as Roode works excellently as a heel. A World Title run, especially on Raw, seems impossible as of now.

#4 Cesaro

Antonio Cesaro won the US Championship at Summerslam 2012 and his impressive work inside the ring convinced everyone that he would be a big star someday. However, his untimely split with manager Aksana halted his push as Cesaro was still green then and lacked charisma.

Cesaro began losing matches. He was even left off the Wrestlemania 29 card. Cesaro lost his US Championship on the Raw after Wrestlemania to Kofi Kingston. Cesaro then joined Zeb Colter, and the two were soon joined by Jack Swagger.

Cesaro’s in-ring skills continued to impress everyone but his lack of charisma held him back. Currently, Cesaro is one half of the tag team, The Bar, with Sheamus. The team is highly entertaining and both Cesaro and Sheamus work very well together as a team. The Bar is currently on Smackdown Live, trying to find their way into the Tag Titles picture.

If the Bar breaks up in the near future, expect Cesaro to receive a decent push if he stays on Smackdown Live. A world title run however, is out of the question.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura

Enter ca

Shinsuke Nakamura made his WWE debut in 2016. He made his main roster debut in April 2017 on Smackdown Live. In the beginning, it looked like Shinsuke might become a top star in no time but with back to back losses against Jinder Mahal, he was pushed down the card.

Shinsuke then went on to win the Royal Rumble match of 2018 and unsuccessfully challenged AJ Styles for the WWE title on 4 different occasions.

Shinsuke turned heel during his feud with AJ Styles and it started looking like he would win the WWE title from AJ Styles at some point but those were just speculations. Shinsuke then went after the US title and won it at Extreme Rules.

Shinsuke’s heel turn has been entertaining so far and it looks like he will be a major upper mid-card player on Smackdown in the upcoming months.

At this point however, it seems like Shinsuke’s title chase earlier this year will be the closest he would get to the WWE title for a long time. Shinsuke is talented in the ring but there's a lot of room for improvement in other areas.

He is improving rapidly but he could be assigned a manager for the time-being, which would be quite helpful.

#2 Rusev

Ent

Rusev arrived on the main roster in 2014 as a monster heel with his manager Lana. Rusev had a massive debut year and remained undefeated throughout.

Rusev even won the US Championship from Sheamus and went on to defeat John Cena at Fastlane 2015. The feud with Cena however, proved to be a disaster for Rusev as he went on to lose 3 matches against John Cena at Wrestlemania 31, Extreme Rules and Payback. Rusev dissolved his partnership with Lana too. These losses killed Rusev’s push.

Rusev re-aligned with Lana in 2016 and Rusev once again became a monster heel. He decimated Kalisto to win his 2nd US title.

During the brand split, Rusev and Lana were drafted to Raw. Rusev’s push ended once again when he was defeated by Roman Reigns for the US title at Clash of Champions 2016 and was pushed down the card. In 2017, Rusev got drafted to Smackdown Live and after struggling for a few months, Rusev introduced the Rusev Day gimmick which got really over with the fans.

Rusev received a shot at the WWE title at Extreme Rules 2018 but he lost to AJ Styles. Rusev is currently one of the most over superstars on Smackdown Live. Rusev may not win a World Title in WWE but he has truly established himself as one of the most entertaining and hardworking superstars on the roster.

#1 Sami Zayn

En

Sami Zayn was booked as an underdog in NXT where he usually failed to win the big matches. Sami’s story was really well-written. Every time he found his way to the top, he ended up being knocked down but he never quit. Eventually, Sami Zayn went on to win the NXT Championship after struggling for months, which made the moment so special.

On the main roster, Sami was booked similarly. He showed heart but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities given to him. Sami had a great feud with Braun near the end of 2016. It was believed that Sami would get his deserving opportunity on Smackdown Live. Sami got drafted to Smackdown Live but he never seemed to break out of the underdog character. Eventually Sami turned heel but still continued to lose meaningful matches.

Sami is currently sidelined with an injury but it looks like he might be getting a decent push on his returns next year. Don’t expect him to win any World Title however. Even a decent run as an Intercontinental Champion or a few feuds where he could come out on top would be sufficient.
