The Rock could surprise the WWE Universe very soon

What’s the story?

As reported by PWInsider, The Rock’s mother and oldest daughter were in attendance at this week’s RAW tapings.

That, in turn, has led to speculation regarding The Rock potentially staging a WWE comeback very soon.

In case you didn’t know…

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of Hollywood’s top stars today and is considered by many as the king of the entertainment world with several blockbuster movies on his resume.

The People’s Champion last competed in the WWE against Erick Rowan in an impromptu matchup at Wrestlemania 32—besting the latter in a record 6 seconds, with the rest of the Wyatt Family ringside.

The heart of the matter

In August of last year, the WWE and 2K confirmed The Rock to be the Executive Soundtrack Producer for the WWE 2K18, however, Rocky did not make an appearance in front of a live crowd on WWE TV programming throughout 2017.

Nevertheless, with RAW Superstar Curt Hawkins taking to social media so as to challenge The Rock, and the Brahma Bull responding to the former’s callout; talk of Rocky’s WWE return once again gained steam.

Furthermore, The Rock’s mother Ata Johnson and his oldest daughter Simone Alexandra Johnson were indeed seated in the first row at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Following which, the pro-wrestling fans and experts alike have been bantering that the former WWE Champion could return to the WWE, particularly with a ‘Big 4 PPV’, the Royal Rumble, in this case, coming up later this month.

What’s next?

As is a tradition in the WWE, several notable performers from the past make surprise returns at the WWE Royal Rumble matches. Although The Rock and the WWE are yet to confirm any talk of his in-ring return, around ‘Rumble season, such comebacks are usually kept under the wraps until the very last moment.

The WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28th.

Author’s take

Given the tip-top shape The Rock always stays in, it wouldn’t be tough for him to stage a comeback at the Royal Rumble.

Granted that ring rust may factor to a certain extent, however, imagine the pop when the pyro hits and out comes none other than the Jabroni Beater himself. As the old adage goes—Never say never in the WWE.
