Monday Night Raw, July 9, 2018: Predictions for Extreme Rules’ Go-Home Show

The upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw is going to be the go home show for the Extreme Rules PPV. Fans around the planet would expect a certain degree of “extremeness” from the show to set the tone for the event scheduled for next Sunday.

Last week’s episode ended on a bizarre note when Braun Strowman threw Kevin Owens off the stage. As the night closed, fans witnessed the medical officials wrapping the victim’s body on a stretcher.

Speaking of the other rivalries, Dolph Ziggler will be defending the Intercontinental Championship against the former-champion, Seth Rollins, in a 30-minute Iron Man match. However, with Drew McIntyre in the corner of the reigning champion, the “Architect” needs to come up with a plan in order to regain the championship.

Although Roman Reigns was involved in two matches in the previous episode of Raw, none of them ended in a way which he would have liked. However, the night had a gift for him as Kurt Angle scheduled the match between him and Bobby Lashley at Extreme Rules.

Taking all these combustible elements into account, here are the predictions for the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw.

#1 Will Reigns claim back his yard?

For two weeks in a row, Roman Reigns is humiliated and assaulted by the Revival. Two weeks ago, he lost to the duo thanks to a quick roll up. Last week, he was hurled by them in both of his matches.

The “Big Dog” should be looking to gain momentum ahead of his match at Extreme Rules. The best thing for him to do that will be to challenge Revival to a handicap match and gain a victory. This will help him send a strong message to his opponent at the Extreme Rules.

If this match indeed takes place, Bobby Lashley will be very interested in this match. Will Reigns get distracted if Bobby decided to interfere, or will he be able to claim back his yard?

#2 The therapy continues

Would Dr. Shelby be able to help or will he need a therapy himself?
Would Dr Shelby be able to help or will he need a therapy himself?

Two weeks ago, Bayley unleashed her fury on her former best-friend, Sasha Banks. The attack was so vicious that the Raw General Manager had to step in and send both of them to counselling.

Last week, both of them were seen in Dr Shelby’s office when he tried his best to tie the knots between the two. However, it was quite visible that both of them were poles apart when the cameras stopped rolling last week.

Hence, it is probable that the counselling continues for them this week as well. What more tricks the doctor has to bring these two former-friends on the same page again?

#3 Will Axel make a hat-trick?

The B-team will be challenging the Deleters of the World at Extreme Rules for the Raw tag-team championships. For two weeks in a row, Curtis Axel has defeated Matt Hardy in a one-on-one match and has gained momentum for his team.

The “Woken Warrior” would be looking to seek retribution ahead of their match for the gold. Will Bray Wyatt be in the corner of his tag-partner to help him put his losses behind him? Or would Axel be able to make a hat-trick of his wins over Matt Hardy?

#4 Raw goes “Extreme”

Would Balor challenge Corbin to put the "Constableship" on the line?

It is obvious for the WWE Universe to expect the Superstars to go over the edge to treat them to an early taste of the upcoming PPV. There are a couple of ways to do just that.

Seth Rollins can use a chair to make sure Drew McIntyre doesn’t make it to Extreme Rules. This will allow the “Architect” to focus only on Dolph Ziggler during his championship match.

Being the “Constable of Raw”, Baron Corbin could pick up a stipulation for his match against Finn Balor. Along with the result-predictions for Extreme Rules, we predicted this match to take place. This match would be crucial to deciding the future of the “Lone Wolf” as an authority-figure on Raw.

Not to mention, Nia Jax will be competing in an Extreme Rules match against Alexa Bliss for the Championship. Would she like to use a couple of weapons or her sheer power be enough for her opponent?

#5 The Strowman-Owens saga

Owens was in a lot of pain when the show closed last week.
Owens was in a lot of pain when the show closed last week.

Kevin Owens tasted extremeness last week itself when he was thrown off the stage. It is quite evident that he will be in no condition to compete (or even show up) at Extreme Rules.

However, the “Prizefighter” is now pushed to his limits. This provides some interesting future possibilities for Strowman-Owens storyline.

Owens might be looking to challenge Braun Strowman in a fight, quite possibly at Summerslam. If this happens, it could be something that the “Monster Among Men” would be looking forward to.

However, being one of the best heels of WWE, Owens would certainly have a plan to neutralize Mr Money in the Bank.
