Money in The Bank 2018 - Predicting the outcome of each match

A match card that has the potential to be the best in the world.
A match card that has the potential to be the best in the world.

Last Night's Smackdown Live was the last WWE show before the 9th Annual Money in the Bank event, and the next time WWE will go live it will be from All State Arena in Chicago for one of the most hyped shows of the year.

All the matches are set and, while the build-up was not as emphatic as it should have been, the fans are very much excited for most of the matches on the card.

Titles will be on the line and personal feuds will finally come to an end in grudge matches, but the main attractions will be the two MITB ladder matches and the Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title. Money in the Bank usually begins the road to Summerslam, and the result of this pay per view determine the feuds leading up to SummerSlam. Here are the possible outcomes of each match from Money in the Bank 2018.

The Bludgeon Brothers(c) vs Gallows and Anderson (Smackdown Tag Team Titles)

The only match on the pre show.
The only match on the pre-show

The Tag Team divisions on both brands have taken quite a fall since the Superstar Shakeup. While the likes of Usos, New Day, The Bar and others were tearing the house down before WrestleMania, they are hardly featured anymore on the either of the show. Even worse, none of the pairs of tag champions are featured on the main card as Blue Brands tag titles are now being defended on the pre-show.

Speaking of Tag Titles, Harper and Rowan have defeated almost every tag team on Smackdown Live in the past 6 months, and this has left The Good Brothers and The Bar as the only two teams that have not lost to The Bludgeons. Anderson has a singles win over Harper, and definitely, have an advantage at this moment. A win for them will add a little excitement to the dull tag team division on Smackdown.

Prediction: Gallows and Anderson win the Smackdown Tag Team Titles

Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass

A feud that has to end soon.
A feud that has to end soon.

WWE had a chance of bringing back Daniel Bryan with pomps and shows by giving him a sensible feud with a top level Superstar, and they did exactly the opposite of it. His feud with Big Cass has now into its second month when it should not have taken place at all. While it presents a nice David v Goliath story, it has fallen flat courtesy some bland mic and in-ring work from the 7-footer.

Bryan won their first contest at Backlash, and it is time for him to move onto some other rivalry leading up to SummerSlam. A defeat at Money in the Bank, courtesy some outside interference, and a subsequent win on SmackDown two days later will not only bring an end to this feud, it will also set up the future feud with the man who caused Bryan's defeat.

Predictions: Big Cass wins courtesy some outside help.

Bobby Lashley vs Sami Zayn

This should be an easy win for Lashley.
This should be an easy win for Lashley.

The story leading up to this match between Bobby Lashley and Sami Zayn had one of the worst buildups to a match in the entire history of WWE. Everything, from that weird Lashley's Sisters segment, their apologies the segment to the horrendous obstacle course, was a pain to watch for fans all over the world. There is no way WWE will continue this feud beyond MITB, and it should have a soothing end this Sunday.

Both Lashley and Zayn are bonafide Superstars and deserve to be treated that way as well. Sami is an exceptional heel and one of the best in-ring performers in the world, but this is a match for Lashley to win. He has been treated in a weird way ever since his return after 'Mania 34, and need a big win to move on to a more meaningful feud leading up to SummerSlam.

Predictions: Bobby Lashley decimates Sami Zayn

Seth Rollins(c) vs Elias (Intercontinental Title)

A potential show stealer.
A potential show stealer.

This is what happens when you put two exceptionally talented superstars in the ring together. While this feud has not been promoted to the level of other feuds on Raw, the performance of Seth Rollins and Elias on weekly basis has generated enough buzz for this Intercontinental title match. Following that guitar shot and smashing of the guitar, there is real animosity between the two and this will come handy in producing a gem this Sunday.

The perfect heel-face dynamics also come handy as well since both Rollins and Elias are way over with the crowd. This is just the start of this feud, and it must continue for at least one more month. It is still too early for Rollins to drop the title, and Elias must not lose cleanly and lose all momentum. A disqualification win for Elias is the best way to keep the feud going and have a stipulation match at Extreme Rules

Prediction: Elias wins via DQ, Rollins retains the title

Carmella(c) vs Asuka (Smackdown Women's Title)

The Empress vs The Princess
The Empress vs The Princess

Carmella has been a sensation on the mic ever since winning the Smackdown Women's Title in April. The way she has taunted Asuka throughout the buildup of this match was her best work since making her main roster debut in 2016. Asuka, on the other hand, gained a lot of momentum after defeating Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville in a handicap match last week before making Mella submit this week.

But this is where everything takes a turn. Before last nights 10-Women tag match, only a few very giving Carmella to walk out of Money in the Bank with the Title. However, her loss on Smackdown, that also at the hands of Asuka, means that she will retain the title this Sunday. Expect the IIconics, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to interfere on behalf of Carmella, allowing her to win the match and extend this feud to Extreme Rules

Predictions: Carmella retains the title by pinfall after outside interference

Nia Jax (c) vs Ronda Rousey (Raw Women's Title)

This match could go either way.
This match could go either way.

It is a shame that Ronda Rousey's first singles feud in WWE has been rather underwhelming till now. Rousey felt uncomfortable during the promos, and Nia Jax has actually gone bland as a champion in just two months, which has also affected the build of this match. Ronda Rousey is yet to be tested as a singles competitor in WWE and Jax is not one of the agilest in-ring workers, so this could result in a disappointing affair.

Until the final Raw, there was no physical interaction between the two but it was Ronda who had the last laugh two days ago by locking Nia into the armbar. Even though Ronda is highly favoured to win the title, the scenes at Raw mean that there is a good chance that Nia might walk away with the title and this is exactly what should happen. It doesn't matter if it's clean or through disqualification or through outside interference, Nia must retain to extend this feud till Summerslam.

Predictions: Nia Jax retains the title

Roman Reigns vs Jinder Mahal

This match has Roman written all over it.
This match has Roman written all over it.

Now we reach the match between two of the most hated wrestlers in the whole world right now. Even though no one wanted to see a feud between Roman Reigns and Jinder Mahal, we are going to get a match between the two at Money in the Bank. All of this is being done to get Roman over by putting him in a feud against a wrestler that people so badly hate, but it will fire.

So far, the feud has been evenly balanced with both the competitors attacking each other on successive episodes of Raw. Even then, there is absolutely zero per cent chance of Jinder Mahal walking out of Chicago as the winner. WWE is repeatedly calling Roman 'The Uncrowned Universal Champion' and is planning to have him battle with Lesnar again at Summerslam (when do those gonna become extinct?). This match is nothing but a deviation for Roman until Brock Lesnar next month.

Predictions: Roman Reigns pins Jinder to win the match

Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

A mixture of talent and experience.
A mixture of talent and experience.

This is inarguably the most star-studded field on women superstars in the history of WWE. There is a perfect blend of talent, power, agility and 6 former Women's Champions who are adamant on holding the title again. WWE can't afford to screw this match just like last year, and all these female superstars will be looking to make the best of the opportunity. The build of this match has been rocky, but expect this match to be a wild ride.

Ever since her budding friendship with Ronda Rousey started, Natalya was considered as the favourite to win the title. However, her victory in Monday's Fatal-4-Way has now cast a shadow on her chances of walking out with the briefcase. Charlotte and Alexa don't need a briefcase to challenge for the title, while Naomi and Lana are long shots.

This leaves Becky, Sasha and Ember, and among these three, Becky needs the win the most to become more credible on the blue roster after a horrendous 2017. Even then, Natalya has to be the odds-on favourite to set up a feud with Ronda in the future.

Predictions: Natalya unhooks the briefcase

Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

It is time for The A-Lister to make history.
It is time for The A-Lister to make history.

Just like the Women's ladder match, this field is also a phenomenal blend of power and agility. The men's ladder match usually features a lot of high-risk spots, and with guys like The Miz, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens in this match, we can expect a lot of memorable and show-stealing moments in this clash. Add to that the surprise factor of which New Day member will take part in this match, and you have the recipe of a match of the year candidate.

That, however, doesn't mean that this match is easy to predict as each man has a chance to climb the ladder and unhook the briefcase. However, with Natalya expected to win the Women's one, there is a good chance that a Smackdown superstar will conquer this one. That leaves Samoa Joe, The Miz, Rusev and Big E(probably), and among these four, The Miz is most likely to emerge victoriously. He is long for the World Title reign, and this will also act as a platform for his feud with Daniel Bryan.

Predictions: The Miz is Mr. Money in the Bank

AJ Styles(c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura (Last Man Standing for WWE Title)

A make or break match for The King of Strong Style.
A make or break match for The King of Strong Style.

Before I say anything about the predicted outcome of the match, I just want to get one thing out of my chest - This match must close the show in Chicago. Even though the feud between Nakamura and Styles has been, at best, average, the two deserve to the main event at least one pay per view from the four in which they have or will face each other. Maybe the opportunity to close the show will finally bring out that 5-star match from these two performers.

Nakamura has been phenomenal as a heel, and that is just an understatement. The Last Man Standing is one of the most gruelling stipulations in wrestling, and it will definitely come as more useful to The King of Strong Style. Styles has been the WWE Champions for almost 8 months, the longest in almost 4 years, and has done enough for the title.

It is now Nakamura's time to hold the title and move onto new and fresher feuds with other superstars. Styles, meanwhile, is rumoured to feud with Samoa Joe, so everything will go according to the wish if Styles fails to answer the 10 count after, you guessed right, a low blow and a Kinshasa.
