Opinion: Bobby Lashley winning the Universal title at Royal Rumble 2019 is best for business

Bobby Lashley made his return to the WWE on the RAW episode after WrestleMania 34, as he attacked Elias. He received a thunderous response from the audience, and with Lesnar retaining the Universal title at The Grandest Stage, they were expected to indulge in a rivalry before The Beast's move to UFC.

However, Lashley was booked in a meaningless feud with Sami Zayn, and it did no good for any of the two superstars. But things looked good when he quickly moved over to a program with The Big Dog, and defeated him clean at Extreme Rules.

This signaled a possible Universal title feud with The Conqueror, as The Dominator had defeated the #1 contender for the championship. WWE however screwed Lashley by having him lose to Reigns on a RAW episode, with the winner being declared the #1 contender for the flagship show's premier title.

Roman won the belt at SummerSlam, while Lashley was not even on the card. The trend continued as he failed to make it to the Hell in a Cell card as well. Lashley then turned heel after WWE Super Show-Down, and aligned himself with Lio Rush.

They are one of the most annoying duos on WWE TV, and the hype man literally forces the WWE Universe to boo Lashley with his chants.

This partnership has garnered heat towards Bobby Lashley, as he plays the role of a muscular heel on RAW, destroying the smaller guys. WWE Creative are trying hard to build Lashley as a credible superstar so he achieves glory in the future.

Bobby Lashley has never battled Brock Lesnar, and this feud has the calibre to headline any PPV on the planet. Adding Lio Rush and Paul Heyman to the mix just adds to the quality of the feud.

It is a known fact that Brock Lesnar does not appear on WWE TV regularly, and the fans want a champion who battles every week in the ring. Lesnar needs to lose the title sooner rather than later, and given that he defends his title at the Royal Rumble show, Lashley could win a #1 contender's match at TLC to kick-off this once in a lifetime rivalry.

Vince McMahon has always been a fan of big muscular superstars, but it is unknown why he has not booked the Lesnar vs Lashley feud yet.

With Braun Strowman probably feuding with 'The Scottish Psychopath' Drew McIntyre, this is the golden opportunity for the writers to have Lashley win the Universal title, and then defend it against Strowman or McIntyre at WrestleMania 35.
