Ranking all the possible heel turns in SummerSlam
Will Dean Ambrose turn his back on his Shield brother?

SummerSlam never fails to grab the headlines. From Shawn Michael's comical overselling in 2005 to Triple H's heel turn in 2013, the viewers have always been treated with something controversial whether it be for the good or bad. This year, WWE will emanate the show from Brooklyn and will be the first time that the show will not feature either of Bret Hart, Triple H, John Cena, or the Undertaker.

Nonetheless, the fans can expect some heel turns to invigorate their mood. The rumors and speculations of heel turns are always rife in the WWE. But this Sunday, the fans in attendance can witness more than one of them.

Without any further ado, here we rank all the possibilities of heel turns in SummerSlam.

#8 New Day members

The New Day is one of the most, if not the most, charismatic stables WWE has produced in the PG Era. Under the freebird rule, they held the Tag Team Championship for 483 days and in the process, became the longest reigning tag team champion in the history of WWE. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter even awarded the trio the Best Gimmick Award in 2015 for their performance.

Around the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, rumors were rife surrounding their breakup. However, they have been calm since the event unfolded. But, you never say never in pro-wrestling.

Each member of the New Day would be a fine addition to the singles roster of the blue brand. However, they need to be in the tag team division to bring some legitimacy. While Xavier Woods and Big E have a bright future as singles competitors, we don't see that happening this Sunday.

#7 Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is perhaps the most underutilized member of the Four Horsewomen in the main roster. After her initial run as the SmackDown Women's champion, she hasn't done anything noteworthy. But now, she has got the opportunity to regain her rightful throne.

But, will that desperation force her to turn her back on Charlotte? One ought to note that Charlotte is a bigger star than Becky Lynch having been in the first-ever women's Hell In A Cell Match and ending the undefeated streak of Asuka. It makes much more sense for her to win the Women's Champion and headline Evolution as the reigning Women's Champion.

So, after Charlotte wins the Women's Championship from Carmella at SummerSlam, expect Becky Lynch to be furious with it. This could sow the seeds of jealousy for Becky Lynch and eventually lead to her backstabbing the Queen. Whether it happens at SummerSlam or some other episode of SmackDown is a different thing. But, if Charlotte becomes the new SmackDown's champion, the only logical feud heading into Evolution is that with heel Becky Lynch.

#6 Aiden English

Aiden English's position on Rusev Day is in danger now. After costing Rusev and Lana their singles match against Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega respectively, he can play spoiler in the mixed tag team match at the kickoff show. He could cost them the match directly, or an unwanted interference can turn the tide in the opponent's favor.

In either of the case, Rusev and Lana would be angry at him and lead to his eviction. Rusev and Lana will continue finding their prominence in the SmackDown roster, but Aiden English will be buried softly. Aiden English will have nothing to gain if he turns on Rusev and Lana.

#5 Charlotte Flair

Charlotte has taken the road downhill since her victory over Asuka at WrestleMania. She had lost the championship less than 48 hours later to Carmella and failed to recapture the title from her. But now, at SummerSlam, she could regain her throne; or, maybe not?

Our Becky Lynch heel theory can apply to Charlotte as well. She has been head and shoulders above the Irish Lasskicker in the entire time in the main roster. However, on one particular night, tables are turned.

Becky Lynch is the better women and Charlotte can't stand it. After her victory, Charlotte raises her hand, and both of them of them begin to celebrate. However, Charlotte attacks her and locks in the Figure Eight forcing the WWE officials to intervene.

#4 Natalya

Natalya's rumored heel turn over Ronda Rousey had begun to emerge the day she was declared her training partner. Every single fan and analyst sensed it and are waiting for it. The rumors were so rife that she was even the favorite to win the Money in the Bank contract and cash it in on the same night. However, Alexa Bliss did the needful.

But now, things might finally come to fruition. Natalya's jealousy of being shadowed by Ronda Rousey might cost the latter her match at SummerSlam. Remember, she is a third generation superstar, and if it weren't for her, Ronda Rousey would not have learned a lot of moves in the Performance Center.

It might not be the perfect student-teacher rivalry pro-wrestling industry has seen in a long time. But, it would be the ideal feud to book Ronda Rousey if the company doesn't want the title to be around her waist.

#3 Drew McIntyre

Four years ago, if someone pitched an idea that Drew McIntyre will be the next big thing in WWE, people would have laughed at it. The Scott was in the 3MB, and his future looked bleak. However, after proving himself in the independent circuit, things have changed drastically.

The former NXT Champion is indeed labelled as the next big thing in WWE now. His alliance with Dolph Ziggler should end once WWE feels it is only holding Drew McIntyre down. SummerSlam might not be the ideal time for it as they are yet to reach their pinnacle, but it isn't a bad time either.

#2 Paul Heyman

When Roman Reigns defeated Bobby Lashley to become the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship, the fans thought that they are going to witness another lethargic match. If Paul Heyman doesn't interfere, that might be the case. However, looking at the proceedings of the feud this time, it is hard to imagine the former ECW owner not playing the kingmaker.

This week on Raw, Paul Heyman used a spray to blindside Roman Reigns momentarily and allow Brock Lesnar to ambush Roman Reigns. However, before that, Paul Heyman gave the Big Dog a letter and a lot of wrestling journalists think that it can play a huge angle. In one of our articles, we alluded to the idea of Paul Heyman writing a message on Samoan or telling him that he is on his side. And going by his interview on Raw two weeks earlier, we think that he will eventually turn on the Beast this Sunday.

#1 Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose's return this week on Raw ensured that the red brand was head and shoulders above the blue brand. Seth Rollins bought him to nullify Drew McIntyre's effect at SummerSlam. However, it could prove costly for him if the Lunatic Fringe turns his back.

One ought to note that the initial plan was to have Seth Rollins face Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania. However, Dean Ambrose's injury ensured that it never came to fruition. But, now that he is fit and has a beefed-up look, that story might eventually unfold.

SummerSlam may or may not be the ideal venue for it. But, given the fact that both Drew McIntyre and Dean Ambrose will be in the corner, we wonder if they are only there to nullify each other.
