The 5 Best Current Heel Runs In WWE

Who are the best heels?
Who are the best heels?

Heels have been the foundation of the WWE. Without heels who would the good guys face or overcome to achieve their goals. A strong heel has a lot of different characteristics. These characteristics need to be on full display in order for them to be successful. A heel doesn't always have to be super strong on the mic or great in the ring, but in showcasing those talents especially on the mic they can generate a reaction of hate and disdain from the audience.

In this slideshow I'm showcasing the best heels currently in the WWE. These individuals have showcased themselves as sinister, twisted, cunning or a combination of these characteristics. In displaying these types of things they have become some of the most entertaining and despised heels in the WWE.

#1 Tommaso Ciampa

We have to start with the current best heel in WWE/NXT and it's the Sicilian Psychopath Tommaso Ciampa. Since returning from a devastating knee injury in the beginning of this year Ciampa has simply been on fire with his current heel run.

His return at NXT Takeover Philly was the start of the best rivalries going in WWE between Ciampa and Gargano. These two have displayed their hatred on screen in such a way where it's impossible not to be sucked in.

The main reason has been the absolute disdain for Ciampa the current NXT champion. His gimmick from attire and entrance are just part of what makes him great. The ultimate thing that makes him a top heel is his social media account if you don't believe me go take a look. He follows no one he's his own man constantly creating an image that makes him the most hated man on the roster.

#2 Samoa Joe

The next man to step up right behind Tommaso Ciampa is Samoa Joe. Since being called up to the main roster he's consistently at or near the top of the card. His match quality is some of the best work in WWE showing a sadistic side that has recently become a real calling card of his heel run.

Samoa Joe has had a number of opportunities at championships as of late feuding with Brock Lesnar last year putting one of Lesnar's best matches in Lesnar's most recent run as champion. Now Joe has set his sights on AJ Styles in what is becoming the best feud on Smackdown.

Joe has attacked AJ Styles both physically and emotionally driving the Champion over the edge. After their match at SummerSlam which could be considered the match of the night the road to Hell In A Cell can only be more exciting and benefit Samoa Joe. The physical and emotionally attacks on AJ Styles seem to be setting in and my hopes are we see a new WWE Champion at Hell In A Cell.

#3 The Miz

The Miz has always been a solid heel and his work of late is no different. His feud with Dolph Ziggler made the Intercontinental Championship relevant as it's ever been and his current feud with Daniel Bryan is the second best feud going on Smackdown.

Miz continues his strong heel work I can see him competing for the top prize on Smackdown live if AJ Styles holds on to the title. If not Miz will no matter what make his feuds a must watch because of his talent on the microphone.

#4 Randy Orton

Randy Orton since returning at Extreme Rules is the sick and twisted Randy Orton that might be better than ever. The first attack on Jeff Hardy still gives me the creeps when he's pulling on his gauges, yikes.

This Randy Orton is what fans have been craving for and it's a great thing to see even though the attacks seem to becoming even more sadistic than ever. I'm not sure where they are going in terms of booking for Randy Orton after this Jeff Hardy storyline but I would be lying if I'm not happy to see a heel Randy Orton running rampant on the Smackdown roster.
