From The WWE Rumor Mill: The Rock and John Cena could collide on the big screen

Could this happe
Could this happen on the silver screen?

What's the story?

The Rock has taken over Hollywood since his departure from WWE. He became a blockbuster success and it looks like John Cena might be following in The Great One's footsteps in more ways than one.

The background

John Cena is the face of WWE but he also started accepting a few extracurricular roles. He appeared in a couple films and people were really impressed with his acting ability and comedic timing on screen.

Cena has taken a couple breaks from WWE in the past but nothing will probably compare to the massive undertaking of starring in the upcoming Bumblebee Transformers spin-off movie.

At this point, it looks like Cena is headed toward a match against Roman Reigns at No Mercy. But who knows how soon they're going to need him for the movie. So Cena could be taking a break anytime now.

The Rock is a Hollywood juggernaut and has been tackling big roles for a few years now. His involvement with the Fast and the Furious franchise meant big business and he also signed on to star in the upcoming Shazam movie in a huge part.

The heart of the matter

The Rock and John Cena had a couple great matches in the ring but things might get even more epic very quickly because That Hashtag Show is reporting John Cena is one of the two top names being thought about for the role of Shazam in the upcoming “Shazam” film.

The Rock is set to produce the film as well as star in the role of Shazam's arch-rival Black Adam. So things could get very interesting if that casting choice is made.

This upcoming DC film already had wrestling fans' attention due to The Rock's involvement. But if John Cena is cast as the titular character in the film it might be the biggest wrestling movie of all time that had nothing to do with wrestling.

What's next?

Regardless of whether or not John Cena gets this part, he will still have a great career in Hollywood. The Bumblebee movie will be a big deal and it wouldn't be surprising to see it turn into a franchise of its own so John Cena can save the world over and over again.

Author's take

John Cena is a likable guy even though it's so easy to sing "John Cena sucks" along with his theme song. But if they cast the guys who were in the main event of WrestleMania 28 and 29, then Shazam will be a can't miss movie for sure.
