Who did not benefit from going to Raw during the 2018 Superstar Shakeup

During the first part of the Superstar Shakeup, many wrestlers moved to Monday Night Raw from SmackDown Live or NXT.

Jinder Mahal (accompanied by his managers the Singh Brothers), The Riott Squad, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, The Miz, Zack Ryder, Breezango, Natalya, Mojo Rawley, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre (from NXT), Baron Corbin, Mike Kanellis (accompanied by his manager and wife Maria Kanellis), The Ascension, Bobby Roode, & Chad Gable all moved to Monday Night Raw.

While several of these superstars benefited from the change of scenery, many superstars did not.

#8 The Ascension (from SmackDown Live to Raw)

They have been pretty unsuccessful.
They have been pretty unsuccessful.

The Ascension has been one of the worst NXT call-ups of all time. Ever since joining WWE, they have done pretty much nothing. The Ascension were the jobbers of the tag team division and that did not change when they were drafted to SmackDown Live. They were defeated by the likes of Breezango and the Bludgeon Brothers.

While they did not get many wins on SmackDown Live, they were able to at least put up a decent fight. They took the likes of the Usos and American Alpha to the limit and were even dark horses to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles from American Alpha in the SmackDown Tag Team Title tag team turmoil match at Elimination Chamber 2017.

They even were able to get their team of the Usos and the Vaudevillains a win over American Alpha, Breezango, and Heath Slater & Rhyno by pinning Rhyno. The Ascension were also an entertaining part of Breezango's Fashion Files. Now that they are a part of Monday Night Raw, they have done pretty much nothing. They spend most of their time either in catering or wrestling on Main Event. When they have appeared on Monday Night Raw they have been defeated by the likes of the Deleters of Worlds.

They were recently involved in a feud with Bobby Roode & Chad Gable. While Konnor got singles victories over Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, they were ultimately defeated in the match that matters the most. If WWE didn't randomly turn them heel and allowed them to continue to be a part of the Fashion Files, then maybe the Ascension would be in a better position.

#7 Mojo Rawley

Mojo Rawley won several matches on SmackDown Live.
Mojo Rawley won several matches on SmackDown Live.

Mojo Rawley was drafted to SmackDown Live from NXT as part of the Hype Bros back in the 2016 Draft. As part of the Hype Bros, he got wins over the likes of the Colons, the Ascension, and the Vaudevillains. They also were reportedly supposed to defeat the Wyatt Family for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at some point in 2016 or 2017.

He defeated Curt Hawkins on the kickoff show of Elimination Chamber 2017 and won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33. When Mojo Rawley turned heel, he started to really impress. He defeated Zack Ryder at the Clash of Champions kickoff show and made it to the semifinals of the tournament that determined the next United States.

When he joined Monday Night Raw, it seemed like WWE had a plan for him. He had a great match with Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship on an episode of Monday Night Raw. He defeated the likes of No Way Jose and Tyler Breeze.

However, WWE pulled the rug from underneath him when he was defeated by Bobby Roode. Ever since then, he has not appeared on Monday Night Raw at all.

#6 Zack Ryder

Zack Ryder has not benefited from going to Raw at all.
Zack Ryder has not benefited from going to Raw at all.

When Zack Ryder was drafted to SmackDown Live in 2016, the WWE Universe thought there was finally hope for the former Intercontinental Champion.

He was one of the final 4 superstars in a battle royal that was meant to determine who would participate in the 6 Pack Challenge that would determine the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. He also won a battle royal for his team later in the year, outlasting the likes of American Alpha and Breezango.

After Mojo Rawley turned on him, Zack Ryder was a sympathetic figure and it was easy for the crowd to get behind him.

Ever since joining Monday Night Raw, he has not even had a match. Maybe WWE can fix things for him by sending him to 205 Live or by forming a tag team between him and his former tag team partner Curt Hawkins.

#5 Breezango

Breezango have not had many matches on Raw
Breezango have not had many matches on Raw

Breezango had a pretty decent run. Over their period on SmackDown Live, they competed against and defeated the likes of the Usos, the Ascension, the Colons, and even Rusev Day. They were extremely over and were part of the much-loved Fashion Files series.

They competed for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, managed to temporarily put the stale Ascension over, and were critical in helping to introduce the newly formed Bludgeon Brothers to the WWE Universe. When they moved over to the Monday Night roster, it seemed like they had a chance of succeeding as they defeated the Bar in their first match.

However, since then they have been defeated by the likes of the B-Team, the Authors of Pain, and Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Fandango is currently down with an injury leaving Tyler Breeze in lingo. When Tyler Breeze has appeared on Monday Night Raw, he has been defeated by the likes of Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin.

When Fandango does eventually return to WWE, hopefully, WWE will finally give them a chance to shine as a tag team. Seriously, WWE can at the very least give them 5 minutes to have an episode of Fashion Files.

#4 Chad Gable

Chad Gable is currently in a tag team.
Chad Gable is currently in a tag team.

Chad Gable was drafted to SmackDown Live in 2016 alongside his former tag team partner Jason Jordan when American Alpha was drafted to SmackDown Live from NXT. When he teamed with Jason Jordan they defeated the likes of The Usos, The Vaudevillains, The Ascension, The Spirit Squad, The Colons, Breezango, and even the Wyatt Family.

Gable even managed to pin Randy Orton! When Jason Jordan moved to Monday Night Raw, Gable shined as a singles superstar and took the likes of AJ Styles, Rusev, and Kevin Owens to the limit.

When he formed a tag team with Shelton Benjamin, the two took the tag team division to the limit and defeated the likes of the Usos, New Day, Breezango, and The Ascension. When Chad Gable was traded to Raw, it seemed like things would work out for him as he was able to defeat Jinder Mahal in his Raw debut.

However, since then he was defeated by Jinder Mahal twice. Chad Gable has formed a tag team with Bobby Roode that might have potential but it seems like it is just going to lead to a Bobby Roode heel turn.

#3 Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode has not been glorious on the main roster.
Bobby Roode has not been glorious on the main roster.

When Bobby Roode debuted on SmackDown Live he was treated like a star. He defeated Aiden English in his debut and completely crushed Mike Kanellis on the following week. He defeated Dolph Ziggler multiple times in his first ever feud on the main roster.

He then was a part of the main event of Survivor Series 2016 when he competed on Team SmackDown Live against Team Raw. While he was the second man eliminated, at the very least he was eliminated by the monstrous Braun Strowman.

He then won the United States Championship shortly after that by defeating the likes of Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, and Jinder Mahal. After he lost the US title, he was traded to Monday Night Raw. He was defeated by Elias on his Monday Night Raw debut. While he did qualify for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match, he was basically the punching bag of the Raw side of that match.

Both Braun Strowman & Kevin Owens defeated him. Bobby Roode has not made a match on pay per view since then. If he turns heel on current tag team partner Chad Gable he has the potential to be a star.

#2 Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has not won a single match on Monday Night Raw
Sami Zayn has not won a single match on Monday Night Raw

It took Sami Zayn a while to shine on SmackDown Live. He was defeated by the likes of Baron Corbin and Aiden English. However, once he turned heel, he was amazing. Sami Zayn had excellent matches with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. Zayn's matches with Randy Orton were the best of Randy Orton's career on SmackDown Live as a face.

He challenged for the WWE Championship multiple times and got pinfall victories of the likes of Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin, and even current WWE Champion AJ Styles. He was even involved in the angle for Daniel Bryan's in-ring return. When Zayn was moved to Raw, things did not go so well. He did not win a single match and was defeated by the likes of Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, and Finn Balor.

Sami Zayn was also involved in one of the worst feuds of the year with Bobby Lashley. Sami Zayn is currently down with a rotator cuff injury. When he returns, it would be best for Sami Zayn to return as a face.

#1 Kevin Owens

We have not seen the true Prizefighter in a while.
We have not seen the true Prizefighter in a while.

Kevin Owens entered SmackDown Live as United States Champion in the Spring of 2017. He successfully retained his title against both AJ Styles and Chris Jericho until AJ Styles was able to defeat them.

After wrapping up his feud with AJ Styles, Kevin Owens defeated the likes of AJ Styles (once again), Sami Zayn, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dolph Ziggler, and even SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon. Owens was even able to beat up Vince McMahon of all people. He was a staple part of the WWE title scene and was able to be part of a tag team match involving Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 34.

When he moved over to Raw, he did fare better than his friend Sami Zayn as he was able to defeat the likes of Braun Strowman, Bobby Roode, Elias, & Bobby Lashley. However, he was defeated by the likes of Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins. While Kevin Owens escaped (quite literally) with a lucky victory over Braun Strowman at Extreme Rules, he was demolished by Braun Strowman in every way possible.

Shortly after Kevin Owens laid out Bobby Lashley in a shocking attack, he returned and felt like just another guy shortly after. When Kevin Owens eventually recovers from injury, hopefully, he will be able to shine as a face.
