What's the story?

During an appearance on X-Pac12360, Scott Hall said that the WWE office asked him to bring his ring gear to Raw 25, suggesting that he and Sean Waltman could recreate their iconic match from 1993.

In case you didn't know...

On May 17, 1993, Hall, then performing as Razor Ramon, lost to Sean Waltman in a dramatic upset, leading to the DX member being christened " The 1-2-3 Kid."

This iconic moment propelled Waltman, who was viewed as an enhancement worker at the time, into the mid-card, and he even won the Tag Team Championships, alongside Marty Jannetty, in January 1994.

The heart of the matter

When asked about getting word from the WWE office with regard to the 25th anniversary of Raw, " I just got a text from the office that said, 'Please bring your ring gear.' I said, 'Are you ribbing me? You're going to tell me like three or four days in advance, ya know?' Give me a little notice and for the right money, I'll have abs showing.

I said, 'Now, how about I bring what I wear to appearances?' I've got gimmick street clothes. But I think we're going to have a rematch, so I'm just giving you a heads up. I think it's about time I went over," Hall quipped.

However, it is likely that Hall said this in jest as he is 59 years of age and probably wouldn't be cleared by WWE for a return to in-ring action.

What's next?

Raw 25 will take place on January 22, 2018, and will feature the return of a number of wrestling legends, including Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho. There are also rumours suggesting that The Rock and Hulk Hogan could make appearances in some form.

Author's take

While it would be fun to see Hall and Waltman recreate their iconic match, Vince McMahon would never let it happen in 2018. Fortunately, professional wrestling fans can still go on the WWE Network and bathe in the warm glow of nostalgia.
