Yashasvi Jaiswal is back in form, and how! The Indian batter led the way for the Rajasthan Royals' seventh win of the season when they faced the Mumbai Indians on Monday, April 22.

Rajasthan were chasing a target of 180 runs, and Jos Buttler and Jaiswal provided a good 74-run opening stand. Buttler got out on 35, but the southpaw scored a brilliant century. He remained unbeaten on 104 runs off 60 balls and guided the Royals to an easy victory.

Prior to this game, Yashasvi had a fairly dismal IPL season, managing just 121 runs in his first seven games. But he has now hit a fantastic century and silenced his critics with his knock. The Indian Test opener was also in line for his place in the T20 World Cup squad, but his poor form in the first few matches had everyone thinking about his place.

However, now that he’s back in form and looks in great touch, in this article, we will discuss three reasons why Yashasvi Jaiswal should be undroppable from India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

#1 Provides a left-right combination at the top

There have been a lot of talks going around about who should open with captain Rohit Sharma at the T20 World Cup, and one name that looks certain for this job is Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-handed batter made his international debut in 2023 and has since impressed many. He has made over 500 runs in 17 T20 matches for India, but more significantly, he can provide a left-hand-right-hand combo at the top.

Yashasvi has already shown his potential with the bat, and his recent IPL century indicates that he also knows how to finish matches. This left-hand-right-hand combination of the skipper and Jaiswal poses a great threat to opponent bowlers.

#2 Yashasvi has a good strike rate and can play big innings

The Rajasthan Royals player plays with a decent strike rate, which is one of the demands of T20 innings. At a 150 strike rate, Jaiswal has scored 1397 runs in 45 IPL games. Meanwhile, in 16 international innings, Jaiswal has scored over 500 runs at a 161.9 strike rate. Yashasvi also scored a 13-ball fifty in the IPL 2023, showing his capabilities of playing quick-fire innings.

However, the southpaw can also play long innings, as shown in the match against the Mumbai Indians. Also, the young Indian batter has a century to his name in T20 cricket. Yashasvi can play an aggressive brand of cricket and can also hold one end, making him the ideal opener for any team.

#3 High on confidence, had a fantastic England series

Though Yashasvi didn’t score huge runs in the first few games, he’s again back in the limelight with his brilliant century against Mumbai. It shows that these few poor games didn’t affect his confidence, considering the dream run he had in the Test series against England earlier this year.

Yashasvi scored 712 runs in the five-match Test series at an amazing strike rate of 79.9. The young Indian batter also struck two double centuries and hit 26 sixes in the series, the most by any player in a Test series. Jaiswal was also named the Player of the Series.

Meanwhile, coming back to the present, the Indian batter has again shown his talent. He played a fine knock against a good bowling attack, and looking back at the number of runs he has scored, he looks “undroppable” from the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
