KL Rahul's stunner proved his quality as a wicketkeeper

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul showed his prowess as a wicketkeeper to end Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ajinkya Rahane's stay during the IPL 2024 match between the two teams at the Chepauk on Tuesday, April 23.

Rahane went for an expansive cover drive on the up against pacer Matt Henry, but there was just enough movement in the pitch to take an outside edge. The ball was travelling, but Rahul showed great agility in stretching his right mitt and took a brilliant diving catch.

Here's the video of Ajinkya Rahane's dismissal:

The sensational piece of fielding lifted LSG's energy on the field and they soon struck with another wicket of Daryl Mitchell. Rahane's woeful form continued, similar to what he had shown in most of the 2023/24 domestic season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad key to CSK reaching a competitive total

Both the captains mentioned the possibility of dew making batting easier in the second innings. Thus, it is probably even more important for Chennai to get closer to the 200-run mark.

Despite the early wickets of Rahane and Mitchell, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has ensured that CSK didn't lose momentum through the first half of their innings. Gaikwad has already gotten past the 70-run mark at the time of writing and has been making sure that he doesn't throw away his start.

The captain has got the in-form Shivam Dube for support and the southpaw also has got a six and a four under his belt at the time of writing. Lucknow have already shown in the previous fixture that they can chase against Chennai with ease, especially if dew plays its part.

This makes it even more important for Gaikwad and Dube to bat as long as they can and set a platform for the great MS Dhoni to finish big.
