Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been confirmed as the next Liverpool manager after the Reds reached an agreement with his club over the move. The Dutchman will replace Jurgen Klopp, who will leave the position at the end of the season.

Liverpool have been in the hunt for a new manager since Klopp announced his decision to leave the club earlier this year. They approached Xabi Alonso unsuccessfully, and considered a number of other candidates for the position.

Former Tottenham Hotspur target Arne Slot emerged as the preferred candidate for the Reds in the last week, and things have moved quickly. Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement has now been reached between both clubs, and Slot will take over the manager's position from 2024-25.

Slot won the Eredivisie in 2022-23 with Feyenoord, before following it up with a win in the KNVB Cup this season. The 45-year-old manager became manager of the Dutch outfit in 2021, joining the club from AZ Alkmaar and immediately reaching the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, where he lost to Jose Mourinho.

Feyenoord demanded a €9 million compensation from the Reds to allow Slot leave the club, and both sides have now agreed on the final details of the transfer. He will take over once Jurgen Klopp leaves the club at the end of the season, joining compatriot Erik ten Hag in the Premier League.

Slot will have huge shoes to fill, as he will replace a manager widely regarded as one of the best in Europe in the past decade. He will work with a new management group, with Michael Edwards set to be joined by Pedro Marques and Richard Hughes as the club's directors.

Liverpool hand teenage star first professional contract

Liverpool have handed a first professional contract to versatile 17-year-old star Kieran Morrison. The youngster, who has featured for their U-18s and U-21s this season, will look to push for senior minutes next.

Morrison can feature in central midfield or as a winger, and has been in impressive form this season. The youngster has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists this season.
