Jaipur Pink Panthers 33 - 36 Patna Pirates

Many tried, and many failed, but in the end, it took an inspired performance from Sudhakar M and Krishan Dhull to end the Jaipur Pink Panthers' 13-game unbeaten run as the Pirates clinched a thriller by three points.

Jaipur took the early lead, registering an all-out within the first ten minutes, but the Pirates hit back strongly before half-time, setting up an all-out in the 2nd half, which they duly took. They were on top for most of the 2nd half, making the most of whenever Arjun Deshwal was on the bench, but ran into a stubborn Jaipur defense, who delayed an all-out by executing back-to-back Super Tackles.

However, Sachin Tanwar showed his class and finally broke through to get the all-out, and the Pirates overcame some silly errors to manage the game pretty well from then on to win by three points, moving up to 4th on the points table.

For Jaipur, Arjun Deshwal registered a Super 10, but his influence waned in the 2nd half, while both Sudhakar M and Sachin Tanwar had excellent games, with both of them scoring Super 10s. Krishan Dhull's High 5 papered over an off-day for Ankit, and it was his challenge on Bhavani Rajput late in the game that sealed the win for the Pirates.

As one thrilling contest draws to a close, we have another even more high-stakes one waiting to begin, as the hosts and 3rd-placed Dabang Delhi KC take on the 2nd-placed Puneri Paltan. Click here to switch tabs and catch the complete coverage of that game, as I, Shreyas take your leave. Good Night!
2nd Half, 40'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 33 - 36 Patna Pirates

Patna push Arjun Deshwal back to his own half, and with under 30 seconds to play, Sachin Tanwar needed to simply count the clock down, and that's what he does, also getting a point in the process.

The final whistle blows, and the Patna Pirates have done it! They break the Jaipur Pink Panthers' 13-match unbeaten streak with a stellar second-half performance!
2nd Half, 39'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 32 - 35 Patna Pirates

Sudhakar M delivers
what might be the telling blow here! It's a Do-or-die raid alright, but Sunil Kumar is caught in two minds by Sudhakar's speed and his weak attempt at a tackle is easy for Sudhakar to escape from.

At the other end, Krishan Dhull gets to his High 5 with another impeccable tackle on Bhavani Rajput, and that should be it for the Pirates! Good game management is all that's needed here.
FYI Patna Pirates will have a Do-or-die raid when they come in next, so if they play it right, Jaipur can get level.
2nd Half, 38'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 32 - 33 Patna Pirates

Finally, Ankush gets it right, timing an ankle hold well enough to keep Sachin Tanwar down, with Sunil Kumar providing timely support. The deficit comes down to two, and this game is balanced on a knife's edge here.

Ohh, what was the need for that tackle from Ankit! He races across from the left corner attempting to surprise Bhavani Rajput with an audacious advanced back hold attempt that goes wrong. That's unacceptable at this stage!

Timeout called, and coach Narender Redu may have a few harsh words for his left corner. A one-point game this way with a little under two minutes to play.
2nd Half, 36'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 30 - 33 Patna Pirates

Sudhakar M is making it happen for the Pirates, first drawing the error from Ankush, before doing the same with Sahul Kumar in the right. V Ajith Kumar pulls one back, however, with a quick touch point on Krishan Dhull.
2nd Half, 34'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 28 - 31 Patna Pirates

Sachin Tanwar gets the all-out and the lead for the Patna Pirates, and this time, Ankush and Reza Mirbagheri can't execute the Super Tackle, as a weak ankle hold from the left corner allows Sachin the room to escape.

Bhavani Rajput does well to evade from Mayur Kadam's dash immediately after the all-out, but the Pirates do hold a precious 3-point lead.
2nd Half, 33'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 27 - 27 Patna Pirates

Arjun exercises caution against a 5-man Pirates defense, but the Pirates are also keen to play on the do-or-die raid, which is wise, given how they've fared in the Super Tackle situation.

Mayur Kadam has had the number of Arjun in this 2nd half, and the Pirates put in a defensive masterclass in staying out of Arjun's reach, and as the time runs out, Mayur comes in with a tight double knee hold to send him to the bench. Jaipur down to two now.
2nd Half, 30'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 27 - 26 Patna Pirates

Jaipur miscalculate and Sahul Kumar has to go in for a do-or-die raid, where he is easily tackled. Once again, they're down to two, but once again, they deliver in a Super Tackle situation, and this time, it's Abhishek KS who initiates the tackle, with Ankush providing the all-important support.

The whistle blows for a timeout, and what a game we have here! One point separating the two teams, Jaipur is down to three, but have the momentum with them courtesy that Super Tackle, and Arjun Deshwal is also back on the mat!
2nd Half, 28'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 25 - 25 Patna Pirates

Sachin does well to reduce Jaipur down to one with an easy point on Sunil Kumar. However, an error from Ankit allows Jaipur to evade the all-out, and at the other end, the substitute Sahul Kumar does brilliantly to initiate the Super Tackle on Sachin Tanwar which with Ankush's support is successful, and just like that, from a position of dominance, both teams are level now.
2nd Half, 26'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 21 - 24 Patna Pirates

Finally, Arjun Deshwal is sent to the bench, and it's Mayur Kadam who delivers with a well-timed block-dash. Sachin Tanwar then forces the error from Bhavani Rajput, who steps past the end-line, as the Pirates lead by two and reduce Jaipur to three on the mat.

Ajith Kumar is then dashed off court by Mayur Kadam, but Jaipur review, claiming that the raider is safe, but it isn't successful, and Jaipur are down to two now and stare at two successive all-outs.
2nd Half, 24'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 21 - 21 Patna Pirates

Arjun Deshwal has won the battle against Ankit in the left corner with ease, and once again, his diving ankle hold is well anticipated by Arjun, who also gets Mayur Kadam on the way to the mid-line.

However, Sudhakar also seems to be in fine form, drawing the error from Sahul Kumar before tumbling back to the mid-line. Arjun Deshwal is then given an easy bonus point as the teams take turns trading the leads.

Sudhakar M then puts in a quality raid, neatly escaping from a chain tackle from the covers.
2nd Half, 22'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 18 - 19 Patna Pirates

Sachin Tanwar delivers in a 1v2 situation, escaping easily from Ankush's attempted ankle hold. Patna then complete the all-out as Krishan Dhull times his challenge to perfection, and guess what, the Pirates are level!

Sudhakar M then uses his pace to catch Abhishek KS napping, and the left raider is making the difference for the Pirates once again, as the Pirates lead!
Half-Time
Jaipur Pink Panthers 18 - 14 Patna Pirates

An exciting, well-balanced game of kabaddi breaks for half-time with Jaipur in the lead, but the Pirates on top. Jaipur have plenty of defending to do after play resumes, with only two men on the mat, and stave off an all-out.

Arjun Deshwal has been in fine form for Jaipur, with Sachin and Sudhakar M also showing plenty of class for the Pirates. However, it's some marginally better defending from Jaipur that sees them ahead, but really, there isn't much separating the two sides.

An engrossing second-half beckons. Who will come out on top?
1st Half, 20'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 18 - 14 Patna Pirates

A do-or-die raid
in a Super Tackle situation for the Pirates, and Sachin delivers in this make-or-break moment, capitalizing on the panic from the Jaipur defense created by his pace.

Jaipur staring at an all-out now, and as the whistle blows for half-time, Patna will be licking their lips at the prospect of raiding first in the 2nd half and drawing level by completing an all-out.
1st Half, 19'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 18 - 13 Patna Pirates

More quick points for the Pirates as Krishan Dhull opens his account for the night with a well-timed dash on Ajith Kumar. Sachin then puts his speed boots on to catch the retreating Abhishek KS to reduce the deficit to 6 points now.

Krishan appears to have regained his mojo, coming across with a monstrous block to send the third Jaipur raider back to the bench. Jaipur down to three now.
1st Half, 16'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 18 - 10 Patna Pirates

Sudhakar M appears to have gotten away with a wonderful raid point, but unfortunately, he steps into the lobby before doing so. Arjun then reduces the Pirates to three with his fancy footwork before using his reach to good effect to get the makeshift Patna left corner.

However, Arjun tries too much in defense, but mistimes an ankle hold on Sachin Tanwar to concede a cheap point.
1st Half, 14'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 16 - 9 Patna Pirates

Bhavani Rajput gifts the Pirates a point, stepping into the lobby without a touch. However, Sahul Kumar gets his 2nd tackle point of the night, coming across to trap Sandeep Kumar in a 1v5 situation.

Arjun Deshwal then befuddles Ankit with an unstoppable toe touch, and once again, Jaipur are back on top.
1st Half, 12'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 14 - 8 Patna Pirates

The Pirates have opted to keep Sudhakar on the mat, and he's showing why, with an uber-quick toe-touch on Sahul Kumar in the right corner.

At the other end, though, Arjun Deshwal responds with a multi-point raid, getting a bonus point, before escaping in the nick of time from Mayur Kadam's dash. The Jaipur captain Sunil Kumar then makes a silly error, attempting a weak advanced tackle to concede a cheap point to Sachin Tanwar.
1st Half, 10'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 12 - 6 Patna Pirates

V Ajith Kumar reduces the Pirates down to one once again, and this time, the Jaipur defense does enough to tackle Sudhakar M, albeit with a very shaky effort. However, Sunil Kumar's dash is firm enough to send him out of the playing area, giving Jaipur the first all-out of the match.

Arjun Deshwal then extends their lead, making a running hand touch look ridiculously easy, as the whistle blows for the first time-out. Jaipur are dominating here.
1st Half, 8'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 7 - 5 Patna Pirates

Arjun Deshwal makes light work of a 1v2 situation, picking up a point, but the substitute Sudhakar M capitalizes on an error from Ankush to score a bonus+point for the Pirates.

They manage to avoid an all-out, but for how long?
1st Half, 6'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 5 - 3 Patna Pirates

Ankush is quick to make an impact immediately after being revived with a precise ankle hold to bring down Sachin Tanwar, with the right cover providing support in a flash.

Jaipur then moves into the lead as Bhavani Rajput comes clutch in a Do-or-Die raid, putting in a sudden burst of pace to get the touch on the right side of the defense, also easily evading Ankit's attempted challenge due to his pace.

Sahul Kumar then puts in a solid challenge to send Manjeet back to the bench, and just like that, the Pirates are down to two.
1st Half, 4'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 2 - 3 Patna Pirates

Arjun Deshwal opens Jaipur's account for the night with a quality running hand touch on Manish Dhull. Sachin Tanwar then executes a perfect reverse toe touch on an inexperienced Ajith Kumar filling in at the left corner.

Sunil Kumar then pulls one back for Jaipur with a solid block on Sandeep Kumar, reviving Ankush in the process.
1st Half, 2'
Jaipur Pink Panthers 0 - 2 Patna Pirates

Quiet start for Arjun as the Pirates' defense does well to resist the temptation to go in for a tackle. At the other end, Jaipur return the favor to the Patna captain Sachin Tanwar who also puts in an empty raid.

Ankit Jaglan breaks the deadlock with a mighty block on the in-form V Ajith Kumar. The left corner is the form man for the Pirates and he openis his account for the night. Manjeet then follows it up, surprising Ankush with a quick turn and change of direction.
Arjun Deshwal to start proceedings for Jaipur, and we're underway.

Preview

Welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League. On the 4th day of the Delhi leg of PKL 10, we have the Jaipur Pink Panthers and the Patna Pirates crossing paths at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium.

Jaipur sits pretty at the top of the points table, with 71 points in 17 matches, and a win will allow them to go eight points clear of the Puneri Paltan, albeit having played two games more. Their last outing against the Tamil Thalaivas, arguably the most in-form team in the league, should have given them even more confidence ahead of this contest, as they comfortably dispatched them by a 42-27 scoreline. Becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs, Sunil Kumar and Co. would also want to seal a Top-two finish as soon as possible.

At the other end, the Patna Pirates are on a 5-match unbeaten run that has taken them up to 6th on the points table, with a win in this match taking them back up to 4th. The Pirates' positive score difference is a huge asset to them as things could become very tight between the chasing pack for the final three playoff spots, and they'll want to ensure they put up a good fight against the defending champions, and the return of their captain Sachin Tanwar should be a huge boost to them in doing so.

The last time these two sides met finished in a thrilling 29-28 win for Jaipur, and there's a good chance another nail-biter awaits us today. Team news coming right up!
