Match ends in a draw; both teams pocket one point each.
39 overs were sent down on the last day of this contest which is still significantly higher than what we witnessed on the first three days. Rohit K Sharma struck off the first ball to castle Salil Malhotra before picking up two more wickets. Umran Malik trapped Yash Dhull in front and despite being reduced to 60/6, Delhi avoided being bowled out thanks to Anuj Rawat's unbeaten 47 and Hrithik Shokeen's unbeaten 25. With one point going to each team, they both have to bounce back quickly in their next round to move up the ladder.
Stumps on Day 3 - Delhi 3/0 in the 1st innings.
Oh yes, the scoreboard has moved! By a grand two runs at that. After an eternity, some play was possible at the Hostel Ground JKCA with Umran Malik bending his back for six deliveries after Rohit K Sharma bowled the first over. Yash Dhull faced 10 deliveries to remain unbeaten on 2 and the average overs bowled per day now stands at a round one. Sums things up doesn't it?
Start of Day 3 delayed due to bad light.
After the whole of Day 2 was wiped out, the situation hasn't changed on the third day either. Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir continue to wait for some sort of action to resume. Will there be another ball bowled in this game at all?
Stumps on Day 2!
Not a single ball was sent down on the second day. Delhi's score remains the same having played out a lone maiden and it would take something dramatic hereon - a la the Cape Town Test - to see a result in the next two days.
Tea on Day 2.
Same story in Jammu. Nothing new to update with the light just not good enough for play at this point.
Lunch on Day 2 - Delhi 0/0 in 1 over in their 1st innings.
Yup. Nothing's changed. Just the one over is what we saw in Jammu yesterday and that's how it remains with bad light delaying the start of Day 2 as well. Depending on how long this continues, we may not see an outright result for this contest.
Stumps on Day 1 - Delhi 0/0 in 1 over in their 1st innings.
Play finally commenced after bad light delayed the start of action at the Hostel Ground JKCA in Jammu. Alas, it lasted a grand one over after Jammu & Kashmir inserted Delhi in to bat first. Salil Malhotra played out a maiden off Abid Mushtaq before the players went off again due to inclement weather, rounding off a frustrating day in this second round clash.
Start of match delayed by bad light.
Bad light has had its say on another contest with the clash between Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi yet to commence. Delhi are in desperate need for a turnaround after an upset at the hands of Puducherry, in the aftermath of which Himmat Singh was handed the reins of captaincy instead of Yash Dhull. The weather had its say in the first round in Jammu too, as the hosts conceded the first innings lead to Himachal Pradesh.
