गोल्डबर्ग का WWE में 2003-2004 का सफर एवोल्यूशन के खिलाफ स्टोरीलाइंस के इर्दगिर्द ही घूमता रहा। उस दौरान उनका रिक फ्लेयर से भी कई बार आमना-सामना हुआ।

दोनों के बीच WWE में कुल 3 सिंगल्स मैच लड़े गए, जिनमें से एक डिसक्वालिफ़िकेशन के रूप में समाप्त हुआ और 2 में गोल्डबर्ग ने क्लीन तरीके से जीत प्राप्त की थी। इसके अलावा दोनों कई मल्टी-मैन मैचों में भी आमने-सामने आए फ्लेयर का हार का सिलसिला ऐसे ही आगे बढ़ता रहा।
