ब्रूनो सम्मार्टिनो ने साल 1963 में WWE में एंट्री ली थी और विंस मैकमैहन सीनियर ने जल्द ही उन्हें टॉप स्टार बनाने की ओर कदम उठाने शुरू कर दिए थे।

इसी का नतीजा रहा कि सम्मार्टिनो 2803 दिन यानी करीब 8 साल तक चैंपियन बने रहे थे। इन दिनों अगर कोई सुपरस्टार 1 साल तक भी चैंपियन बना रहता है तो फैंस के मन में उसके प्रति ऊब की भावना पैदा होने लगती है। इसलिए इस रिकॉर्ड का टूट पाना असंभव है।
