Commentary

Until then, we will marvel at what Noor and Klaasen did tonight. This is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off with my dear friend Pradeep Somashekar, who is still struggling to fathom India’s defeat earlier in the day against England. Well that concludes Match 22 of SA20 of this season. It's a bottom of the table clash when you look at the points table when MI Cape Town take on Johannesburg Super Kings but there are some serious players in those groups who would not want to give up easily. That promises to be a thriller, just like last time when the two sides met.

Matthew Breetzke (Player of the Match) : Very happy. It had to come. Had been getting a lot of starts. But I was looking for the big one. Stoked to kick on past fifty. My game's definitely grown a lot (from first season to second). The experience has helped a lot. Wouldn't say I've made too many technical changes. It is about making adjustments then and there. The more you play the better you get. Certainly things are constantly getting better. Vibe in the team is really good. And when you're winning it makes a big difference.

Keshav Maharaj (Durban Super Giants captain): Two clinical performances, couldn't have asked for anything better and proud of the boys with the way they went about the business. In the last game, it was identifying our plans to the batters, Noor was phenomenal, hard to pick and showed his class today. Breetzke has given good starts for us throughout the tournament, some of the shots were incredible, reminds me a bit of Herschelle Gibbs in the early days. Really set the platform for Klaasen to come in to finish the way that he did, see it to do live is a brilliant experience. It's identifying roles, various roles and can bat anywhere, he's good against any bowlers and is a threat. Special hitting, luckily he's on our side. Special from Noor, brought him on to be match up and he's always delivered whenever we've asked of him, works really hard at the nets and he's very disciplined. Phenomenal, he's still very young in his career, he's done amazing things and to bowl with him in tandem is special. Very much, something we have set our eyes on, won't take the foot of the gas and will try to possibly stay on top two.

David Miller (Paarl Royals captain): I mean, exceptional bating at the backend from Klaasy, Breetzke batted really well up front, we weren't really expecting them to get to 210, we didn't really step up with the bat, back to back games we've lost, it happens and with five days off, we got to reset a bit. Difficult to work out to where to bowl to Klaasen, the way he's batting at the moment it's superb, the guys have executed the plans, but obviously hasn't worked. 100%, we're still second on the points table, not too stressed about it, the last two games become important against Eastern Cape, we will see how it goes.

The home side have done the double against the Paarl Royals. This has been a proper annihilation. Noor Ahmad is the star of the moment. The young 19 year old is marching his troops off the ground as he registers the 2nd best ever figures in SA20 history - his 5 for 11. He is only behind Reolof van der Merwe who picked up 6 for 20 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad last year.

208 was never going to be easy. But this capitulation has been of historic proportions. This loss by 125 runs takes their net run rate from +0.52 to -0.35 : a negative swing of almost a point and there has been nothing of note to speak of the Paarl Royals outfit.

8 of DSG's bowlers are in the top 16 bowling averages and that is a story in itself. No other side has more than 2 in this top 16 list and today's collective effort propels them to yet another dominant victory. Other than JJ Smuts, who bowled the first over and never returned, all other DSG bowlers got a wicket to their name and it was an embarrassing outing for Paarl Royals.

van Buuren and Jason Roy are the only batters to have reached double digits from the Paarl Royals batting group and this has been a day where nothing went their way. They were never in the game, continually losing wickets in clusters. This loss still keeps them in 2nd spot but Sunrisers Eastern Cape can foster dreams of overtaking them in the near future. This has the potential to be fighting for the biggest ever loss in terms of margins of defeat. It has not gone according to plan for the visitors tonight. This would be concerning, to say the least.
