Seth Rollins arrived at the main roster with a bang with the Shield, but his career truly peaked when he betrayed his brothers and turned heel. From then on, he went on to become a Triple Crown and a Grand Slam champion. At present, he has reunited with the Shield and is the current Intercontinental Champion.

Rollins has been on fire since beating Reigns and Cena in the same night in a gauntlet match and has been a worthy IC champ defending the title every week with his Intercontinental Open Challenges.

Rollins won the IC title for the second time in his career after beating Dolph Ziggler at Summerslam, but, a day later, the Shield reunited and his entire focus has been on the stable.

The championship was not defended in the last two PPVs, and with Seth taking part in the World Cup, it won't be featured on WWE Crown Jewel as well. As good as Seth is, the championship is a mere prop in his hands and needs to be passed on to someone who can get the rub from it.

In this article, we would be going through the possible options who can carry the prestigious belt.

#4 Finn Balor

How the mighty has fallen. With no mistake of his own, Balor has fallen down the ranks, so deep, that he hasn't won a title in over two years and has been reduced to either being a glorified enhancement talent or being in meaningless feuds against the likes of Baron Corbin and Jinder Mahal, or even worse being stuck in a team with Bailey even on the main shows.

Balor was one of the biggest imports from New Japan Pro Wresting, and was the biggest star to come out of WWE's developmental brand, NXT. He defeated Roman Reigns clean on his first night on the main roster and went on to beat Seth Rollins to become the first ever Universal champion.

Finn winning the title could elevate his stature once again to the main event level and he would prove to be a good successor to Seth Rollins defending the title more often.

#3 Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre, apparently dubbed as the 'Chosen One' by the chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon, made a sensational return to WWE TV after honing his skills and working on his body frame in the independent circuit.

McIntyre came back to WWE but had to pass through the developmental brand first. He conquered NXT and became the NXT champion on his in ring debut, defeating Bobby Roode at NXT Takeover : Brooklyn III.

Drew made his return to RAW alongside Dolph Ziggler, with whom he won the RAW tag team championships and was in the Dogs of War stable alongside Braun Strowman and his tag team partner Dolph Ziggler. The trio found themselves regularly involved against the Shield,

The Scottish Terminator recently ended his alliance with 'The Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman which signals new and better future run ahead of him. The only thing keeping him at bay from achieving the brass ring is his current tag team partner Dolph Ziggler.

The association with Ziggler isn't meant to last long, with scuffles and disagreements between the duo. Hopefully, after WWE Crown Jewel, he embarks on a singles run with the IC title being the first stage.

#2 Elias

It's often said that a man makes the title but in some cases, a title could be the one making the man. Superstars like Elias can get a lot of rub and momentum with the IC title around their waist. It could help to elevate them from mid card status to upper mid card and possibly main event status in the near future.

Elias was recently feuding with Bobby Lashley alongside Kevin Owens but after the double turn, that feud too ended abruptly leaving him without an opponent or even a match at WWE Crown Jewel.

Elias got a shot at the title at extreme rules this year but failed to win the title. At present, he is directionless with no real feud. He has proved that he is talented enough to deserve a title run. An IC title run would be a much better option than being an enhancement talent for Apollo Crews.

#1 Bobby Lashley

Lashley is here to dominate

Bobby Lashley has been floundering on RAW ever since he came back. He even picked a monumental victory against Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules but failed to follow it up when it really mattered and ended up loosing the #1 contenders match against Roman Reigns. Bobby wasn't featured on the next two PPV's and recently made it to the PPV alongside John Cena in a tag match.

Lashley began his association with Lio Rush as his hype man which eventually lead to a major character shift after the recent double turn against Kevin Owens on RAW at Chicago. Ever since the turn, he has been a force to reckon with .

Lashley has a physique that screams champion and ever since he came back, fans wanted him to go against Brock Lesnar for the Universal title. The Intercontinental Championship would be back to relevancy, being in the hands of a powerhouse, Bobby Lashley.
