5 Things to Watch Out for at WWE Money in the Bank 2018

WWE MITB 2018
Money in the Bank 2018 streams live on the WWE Network this Sunday

WWE's annual Money in the Bank event is scheduled for this Sunday, June 17th at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

This is one of the most influential pay-per-views of the year, as the winners of the two titular briefcases will have the power to cash-in for a championship opportunity at any point over the course of the next year.

Fundamentally, this means as soon as that particular man and woman pull down that briefcase, their champion needs to be on the lookout for a potential sneak attack, but even we as audience members need to keep our eyes peeled for signs of a cash-in to come.

On top of this, there are other elements of this event that stand out as key moments, major focal points, surprise swerves and other noteworthy aspects of the show.

Here's a look at five things to pay attention to and watch out for when it comes to Money in the Bank 2018.

#5 Ronda Rousey Quickly Wins the Raw Women's Championship

Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey's made Nia Jax tap out quickly before and she may do it again.

You might not want to take a bathroom break when the Raw Women's Championship match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey starts, as it may be a rather quick affair.

Rousey is on the card for her name value and to draw attention to the event—something she'll have already accomplished by this point—rather than to put on a clinic in the ring.

For the most part, she's untested as a performer, having only had her one match at WrestleMania, wherein she wasn't expected to do half the work, nor was she against someone twice her size, which is an entirely different type of match.

WWE will likely want to keep this short, so as to avoid showcasing any major flaws in her game, and given the circumstances, it's not going to be a fast match with Jax coming out on top.

Considering we've already seen Rousey be able to put her submission on Jax and make her tap out, there's no intrigue about whether she can do it again, just a matter of how quickly it can go down.

Don't be surprised if this is segment is over in a heartbeat and a new champion is crowned before you can finish your drink.

#4 Another draw in AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

WWE Championship Match
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura could fight to another no-contest in their fifth match together.

After defeating Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania, AJ Styles should have moved on to a different opponent, but WWE kept the feud going in the absence of competitive purpose.

They followed this up with a match at the Greatest Royal Rumble, which ended in a double count-out. To avoid that happening again, a No Disqualification match was booked at Backlash, which also ended in a no-contest.

It seems both ridiculous and impossible for this now fifth encounter between the two to end in a third draw, but Last Man Standing matches have done just that in the past, such as the one between Undertaker and Batista in 2007.

WWE may try to avert expectations of a definitive finish by having both Styles and Nakamura fall victim to a dangerous fall or a double low blow, with both of them unable to answer the referee's count.

If that happens, also be on the lookout for Paige to step in and attempt to address the situation, or our next entry on this list to come into play.

#3 Mr. or Mrs. Money in the Bank Cash In

Dean Ambrose Money in the Bank
In 2016, The Lunatic Fringe cashed in his briefcase less than an hour after winning it.

Since Brock Lesnar is nowhere to be found on this card, the Universal Championship is in no danger for this particular night, but the three other titles are in jeopardy as soon as a new Money in the Bank winner is declared.

Assuming the ladder matches take place before the championships are defended, a woman from Raw or SmackDown, as well as a man from SmackDown, could immediately jump on the opportunity to become the new champion.

We've seen it happen before with Kane and Dean Ambrose both cashing in their contracts on the very same night, so the winners of the matches between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey, Asuka and Carmella, and AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura could be targets.

If a situation pops up where the Last Man Standing match is a draw, that opens up the WWE Championship to be ripe for the picking if a SmackDown man holds the briefcase.

Likewise, if Natalya were to win the women's briefcase, she could insert herself into the Jax vs. Rousey match to throw off the balance, or someone on SmackDown could capitalize on a weak Carmella who just barely escapes Asuka's wrath.

Pay attention to the placement of the matches on the card and how the title bouts finish. If any of these three champions becomes a sitting duck, someone may swoop in to steal their title.

#2 Interference in the Ladder Matches

IIconics and Absolution
Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay might not stay out of trouble.

It is a little strange that WWE could have very easily made these ladder matches consist of ten people, with five on each brand, but chose to go with eight instead, leaving out several noteworthy Superstars.

In particular, the women's match has some absentees, as not one member of The IIconics, Absolution or The Riott Squad are participating, as well as one of the Raw brand's biggest stars, Bayley.

Given how those three units are heels and Bayley has had a tendency for the past few months of coming out to ringside to inadvertently screw over Sasha Banks, we could see outsiders influence the outcome of this to a great deal.

The men's match isn't immune to this, either, as the two members of The New Day who aren't competing will assuredly be in the mix somewhere, as well as Aiden English to act as backup for Rusev.

This is a No Disqualification match, per usual, and last year saw James Ellsworth's interference be the main reason why Carmella won her briefcase, so don't count out the possibility we see numerous non-participants rear their heads here.

#1 Constable Corbin

Constable Corbin
How will Constable Corbin interfere this Sunday?

Given the freshness of the storyline and WWE's love of overbooking things to include an authority figure's influence, Constable Baron Corbin will assuredly make an appearance and get involved in the festivities.

How and to what extent he'll exert his power is a complete unknown, but it's very unlikely this event will go down without him doing something to badger Kurt Angle.

He shouldn't have any jurisdiction over the SmackDown-only matches, so the tag team, women's and WWE title matches, as well as Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass, should be immune to him, but everything else is fair game.

Constable Corbin could get in the way of Roman Reigns and Jinder Mahal, Seth Rollins and Elias, reverse the referee's decision of a Ronda Rousey title change or mess with the two ladder matches.

Somehow, in some fashion, Corbin will screw over a babyface and revel in his antics while the crowd gets upset.
