5 Ways to Book CM Punk's Return to Wrestling

CM Punk's return to wrestling could change the whole industry
CM Punk's return to wrestling could change the whole industry

CM Punk suffered a vicious loss at UFC 225 to Mike Jackson. After receiving a hometown hero's welcome followed by a massive pounding, Punk proved that MMA may not be his cup of tea. Kudos to the man for following his dreams all the way through. But this does beg the question...will he ever return to professional wrestling

Sportskeeda is the one-stop destination for latest WWE rumors and wrestling news

Punk has had a lot of nasty things to say about WWE over the years. But so have many other men who've eventually reconciled with WWE management to make one last stand. It's not outside the realm of possibility to imagine CM Punk in WWE one more time.

In case that does not happen, there's a booming independent wrestling scene where he could certainly thrive and prosper quite well. Who would turn down the opportunity to work with one of the greatest wrestlers of the modern era?

With those aspects in mind, I begin this speculative article.

#5 Ending Triple H's career

This would be a very interesting storyline indeed
This would be a very interesting storyline indeed

CM Punk is the voice of the anti-establishment, especially after the pipe bomb he cut that is recalled and quoted to this very day by wrestling fans. Triple H represents the Authority, the face of the corporate side of WWE. A clash between the two men would certainly be a clash of two worlds. It would also be a match worthy of headlining WrestleMania.

CM Punk could take on Triple H in a match with massive stakes. If Punk wins the match, he earns a contract with WWE. Moreover, Triple H has to quit WWE for good.

Triple H is no spring chicken anymore and he has had a career that few others in professional wrestling history can truly boast of. Why wouldn't he want to quit in a match that has the whole world watching?

#4 Mixed Tag Team Match against The Authority

Punk and Lee could put on a show for the ages!
Punk and Lee could put on a show for the ages!

This year, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon put Ronda Rousey on the wrestling map. Teaming up with Kurt Angle, Rousey took on her bosses in a match that has been dubbed by many as the 'match of WrestleMania 34'. Another variation of the 'CM Punk vs. The Authority' angle could be a Mixed Tag Team Match. This time, featuring his extremely talented better half!

Lest we forget, AJ Lee was considered one of the most important figures of the Women's Evolution too. In fact, fans would flock by the thousands to see her lay a beating on Stephanie McMahon to gain a measure of retribution. The same holds true for CM Punk and Triple H.

Could we see CM Punk team up with his wife, AJ Lee to take on WWE's tyrannical power couple at WrestleMania 35? Never say never.

#3 Kenny Omega's opponent at Wrestle Kingdom 13

Could The Cleaner take it to the next level, next year?
Could The Cleaner take it to the next level, next year?

Nobody expected Chris Jericho to ever go to NJPW. Not only did he appear in the promotion, he has now held Championship gold. The question remains...how can NJPW top the excitement and thrill of Omega vs. Jericho for next year's edition? Does it get any bigger than Kenny Omega vs. CM Punk really?

Could CM Punk become the next IWGP World Heavyweight Champion? It could turn the world of independent wrestling upside down.

#2 Appearance at All In

This is a strong possibility for sure!
This is a rather strong possibility for sure!

All In takes place in Chicago, which is where CM Punk is from. While he has denied all involvement in the event, we all know he could just be working the audience. I think there's a big possibility that he shows up at All In. Just imagine how incredibly loud the reception will be!

While WWE and CM Punk may be at odds at the moment, Punk has friends in independent wrestling. Even a run in appearance could set the crowd on fire immediately. Yes, Punk may have distanced himself from wrestling, but he may be willing to do a few favours for friends.

#1 Retiring The Undertaker

Will CM Punk make The Undertaker rest in peace?
Will CM Punk make The Undertaker rest in peace?

I consider CM Punk to be one of The Undertaker's greatest opponents of all time. He's had some great contests with the Dead Man over the years. Both men are adept when it comes to psychology and they can work the crowd like few can. Could The Undertaker and CM Punk mix it up at WrestleMania 35?

While The Undertaker may not necessarily want to pass on the torch to CM Punk, it's impossible to deny that this is a really big ticket WWE match. The Undertaker has always been one to do what is best for the promotion and the future of the company. If push comes to shove, I am sure he will lay down for CM Punk.
