5 matches we need to see at WrestleMania 34

As the countdown to WrestleMania 34 is on, attention begins to turn to what matches will take place on "The Grandest Stage of Them All".

We already know that Shinsuke Nakamura will challenge Smackdown's WWE Champion, AJ Styles, while Asuka will challenge the Raw Women's Champion, Alexa Bliss.

Also, we know that the winner of the men's Elimination Chamber match, which takes place on Sunday, February 25th, will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

But currently, there are no fully confirmed matches due to upcoming Championship defences.

As wrestling fans we all love to do a bit of fantasy booking, myself included. And with very little being set in stone to take place at "The Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment" I figured I'd try my hand at presenting five matches I think should take place at Wrestlemania 34.

#5 Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

The
The Hugger and The Boss have great history together

We've seen these two face off back in NXT, where the pair had an incredible series of matches, the most notable of which was at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015, where Bayley and Banks produced what can only be described as magic on a night when Bayley would capture her first NXT Women's Championship. That match has been considered by many to be WWE's match of the year in 2015, male or female.

Since their transition to the main roster though we haven't seen these two face off as part of a feud. They had a match last year on Raw, which had number one contendership implications, and it seemed in early 2017 that WWE might have been teasing a potential match between the two for last years WrestleMania, but the match never materialized and instead saw a Fatal Four Way between Bayley, Banks, Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair.

However, during the Women's Royal Rumble match we saw Sasha Banks eliminate Bayley, and have seen some on-screen tension developing on Raw between the two best friends. They will both compete in the historic first ever Raw Women's Elimination Chamber match later this month, giving the perfect opportunity for further seeds to be planted for Sasha's heel turn and the match to be built strongly heading into WrestleMania. If their history of matches is anything to go by this would be another instant classic.

#4 Ronda Rousey and The Rock vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

Th
The Rowdy one is looking to make her transition from the octagon to the squared circle

Who can forget WrestleMania 31, when during a segment between Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and The Rock, Ronda Rousey would take her first steps into a WWE ring, after McMahon had slapped Rock and taunted him that he would never hit a woman. Rousey would hit Triple H with a hip toss and throw McMahon out of the ring, planting the seed for a future match.

Almost three years later and Rousey made her official WWE debut at the end of January's Royal Rumble event, coming down to the ring, pointing to the WrestleMania sign, and then shaking McMahon's hand before the show went off the air. While it was not acknowledged at the time it is believed this signalled the start of something being built for WrestleMania involving the two women.

While a singles match between the Rousey and McMahon is probably the easiest solution, having Triple H and The Rock involved would make this already huge match into a potential box office blockbuster. We know Triple H loves to compete at WrestleMania, and The Rock is always willing to do business in the right circumstances, which in this case would see the seeds planted three years ago blossom into one of the biggest matches in WWE history.

#3 Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella

Twin
Twin Magic could be created at Wrestlemania

After Nikki and Brie both made their returns to the ring at the Royal Rumble, many wondered just what the plans would be for the twins. While the two worked together during the historical first ever Women's Royal Rumble match, the seeds were planted for a match between the two when Nikki eliminated Brie from the match, which would go on to be won by Asuka.

Now granted, the last time these two faced off in a feud back in 2014 it wasn't exactly classic material, with the now infamous and cringe-worthy line "I wish you'd died in the womb" feeling forced from the mouth of Nikki Bella, being the lowest point the feud had sunk to. But that was a different time, a different era, and both Bella's have come a long way in the ring since then, becoming two of the companies top female superstars.

With Brie having made no secret on the recent season of Total Divas that she wants to return to the ring, with Nikki also needing a storyline to see her make a return to action. and the Women's division growing thanks to the Women's Revolution, this seems like a perfect way to bring back both twins in an impactful story that the WWE Universe would get to better appreciate a second time around.

#2 The New Day Vs. The Balor Club

The Balor Club and New Day would face off in a dream encounter
The Balor Club and New Day would face off in a dream encounter

While we dream of seeing the current incarnation of the Bullet Club face off against either of these two teams, the closest thing we can get right now would see the recently formed Balor Club, who were all of course members of the original Bullet Club, go up against arguably one of WWE's most dominant trio's ever, the New Day.

Finn Balor, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson all had some great matches throughout 2017 but suffered from a lack of a main event push following WrestleMania 33, seeing them mostly in mid-card positions, while New Day went to Smackdown Live, where they had a series of incredible matches with The Usos.

New Day threw shots at Kenny Omega's Bullet Club during an interview with 2K Sports back in 2016, saying that they were the best trio in wrestling at that time, while Omega himself stated in an interview with Ring Rust Radio that he felt a match between the two groups would be great for pro wrestling. But with little chance of an inter-promotional match taking place, it seems like the perfect opportunity for WWE to capitalize on their vision of the match with Balor Club and New Day facing off, providing the WWE Universe with an opportunity to see this dream match come to life.

#1 John Cena vs. The Undertaker

The two
The two faces of WWE could face off in a huge match

This blockbuster of a matchup would see two icons of the WWE go one on one in the ultimate battle to determine who is the real face of the WWE. The Undertaker's WWE career has spanned almost twenty-seven years, seeing him become the companies most legendary figure, while Cena has worked hard over almost sixteen years to become the face of the company. What better stage for these two stalwarts of WWE to face off on.

Cena has gone up against almost every top name in WWE over the years, defeating the likes of Triple H, Kurt Angle, C.M, Punk and The Rock, and has faced Undertaker early on in his career, but this was long before Cena became a sixteen time WWE Champion. At that time The Undertaker had already established himself as one of the faces of WWE and already had a legacy very few SUperstars could, or ever will, come close to emulating.

While it seemed like Undertaker was done in the ring after his loss at last years WrestleMania to Roman Reigns, we could see the phenom lace his boots one more time and appear at the show where he created a legacy with his undefeated streak, and who better to step into the squared circle with for one more time than Cena, who has bee the face of WWE for many years.

It's a match that would see two legends of the WWE face off, and could even contain a high stakes retirement stipulation for the loser. With nothing seemingly in the pipeline for either of these iconic superstars right now, this could be the last chance for WWE to make this dream match a reality before Undertaker, or even Cena, hang up their gear for good.
