Why The Undertaker should return as the American Badass at Wrestlemania 34

Will we see the American Badass again?
Will we see the American Badass again?

If you remember, a few months ago I wrote about how The Undertaker should not return to face John Cena at WrestleMania 34. Now that the match confirmed, if The Undertaker is to return, it shouldn't be as 'The Deadman', it should be as 'The American Badass'.

This past Monday on RAW, Cena once again called out The Undertaker, but this time he got personal. He said, "The only thing preventing the match from happening is The Undertaker himself and his ego." He also said, "The Undertaker isn't worn down or washed up because if he was he wouldn't post workout videos on his wife's Instagram." Not only was this the edgiest and heel like Cena has been in years, but it is also the most personal someone has gotten with The Undertaker, and he sounds human.

Up until last year's WrestleMania, when after he left his gear in the ring and met his real-life wife Michelle McCool at the ramp and kissed her, The Undertaker never broke character on WWE television. This even goes as far as to not having The Undertaker never appear at the Hall of Fame ceremony, aside from his brief appearance at Paul Bearer's induction. However, the American Badass gimmick portrayed was essentially Mark Callaway himself.

If The Undertaker returns as the American Badass, the match with Cena would be more of a brawl, which could cover up his age and possible health issues.

Also, after last WrestleMania, when The Undertaker placed his hat and coat in the ring after his loss to Roman Reigns and left with his wife Michelle McCool, it would make sense that the "Deadman" is finally dead and retired. The only issue with this is that Undertaker returned on the RAW 25th anniversary special, in his Deadman persona, just with different gear. However, with his promo, the argument could be said that he retired the Deadman gimmick there.

The final reason why a return of the American Badass makes sense is that Kid Rock, who sang American Badass, which was the theme song for his entrance, is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the Friday before WrestleMania 34, so it is possible he could perform live. Can you imagine the pop if we don't see The Undertaker until WrestleMania, Cena makes his entrance and is waiting, a minute or so goes by and we hear the gong.

However, instead of the Deadman's theme, we hear the chanting of creepy children, and then we see Kid Rock and he begins singing "American Badass" and we hear a motorcycle and then we see the return of the American Badass? Make it happen WWE.
